I went back to the site where the old church stood from the 1850's till the 1920's. This location is literally loaded with iron ( an average of 5 to 10 rusty nails and other junk per hole) and very overgrown - so I used the 6" Excellerator Coil - hunted in Two Tone Ferrous and swung very - very slow. I hunted an area that was only 30 ft. by 60 ft. for 5 hrs. - swinging ultra slow - most of the time while standing still - taking one step at a time - listening for good targets that were mixed in with all the nails and other junk - it paid off !
Found a total of six coins on this hunt - and five of the six coins have 1800's dates on them.
After hunting this site several time I've found a total of (21) coins - (14) with 1800's dates on them - a 1837 Caped Bust Half Dime - (2) V-Nickels and (11) Indian Cents.
The other coins include 1900's dated Indian Cents - a few Wheat Cents - and a pocket spill of three newer clad coins.
For some reason my camera takes pretty good photo's of everything but ... Indian Cent's - all of the Indian's here are in much better condition than shown on the photo's !
