1857 Seated Quarter

I posted this in the E-TRAC forum as well...

Found this 1857 Seated Quarter today at a permission site. I attended Andy Sabisch's Minelab Bootcamp in 2017 here in Michigan and the class definitely paid off. I use Andy's pattern and also purchased the 8x6 Detech coil from him. The quarter was down ten inches and the E-TRAC pretty much locked onto a "46" for the Conductive number but the Ferrous number jumped from "12" all the up to "22" just as Andy said it would with a coin that deep.

Thanks Andy and Charlene for a great day of learning the E-TRAC!

Fantastic find! Man that coin is in excellent condition also. By looking at the condition, I'd estimate that coin was lost before the civil war started or maybe during the civil war.
Was this in a wooded area or mowed area you found this beauty?

That seated quarter is a beauty!!!!!!! Congratulations!!

Wow ... that's one great looking coin - congrats ! :clapping:

Nice Find its rare to dig a minty seated I dug a beautiful 1854 with arrows this past fall looked like it was dropped the day it was minted!
I also found a beautiful 1821 capped bust dime in the same area so check that spot well!
Congrats!

Thanks everyone for the great comments. I got permission to detect an area that was once a farm and I found the coin about 30 feet from the main road. I'm thinking it might have been a spot where they sold farm produce or eggs. It is in a nice grassy area. Will go back and work it again!

Excellent! They don't come any better than that. Nice job on not over cleaning it. Looks great like it is.

Howdy sd51--

Congratulations on digging that beautiful 1857 Quarter! That site that you are hunting should yield more goodies. Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!
