1955 gold Wheaties?

2 weekends age I was out detecting at Bradley up by the Columbus Statue and I got a weird signal kept bouncing from small gold to 1¢ and it endded up being a "gold" 1955 wheatie has anyone heard of such a thing?

Just about any coin can be purchased with a gold plating as a novelty, or you can do your own plating with a simple plating kit. Still an exciting find though :clapping:

It does prove one thing, no place is really hunted out........ how many hundreds or even thousands of times that spot has been hunted over the past 50 years....... and still producing......:beers: Congratulations.

I agree with Larry on the plating but can you post a clear close-up of the cent. It is probably just the blurry picture but the coin looks a bit like the double die variety.

That's a pretty cool find. Thanks for sharing and HH, Nancy
