2 HOURS = 2 SILVER DIMES, 2 NON-SILVER DOLLARS!!!

Went back out to the park I hit yesterday hoping for more silver.... I was a little disappointed. Most of the park turned out to be recent fill dirt, but I re-hunted the small hot spots from yesterday and managed 2 more silver dimes - 1951S Roosy and 1943D Merc, 17 more wheaties (no key dates this time), and a surprise 1976 Ike dollar and SBA Dollar. The Ike locked on dollar and I thought to myself "wouldn't it be cool if this was a silver dollar?" and when I dug the hole I closed my hand around it scooping out the dirt - that had me going for a second or two! It cleaned up real nice and I was able to burnish the silver color back into it with a lot of scrubbing with a brass bristle brush. There's still a lot of targets out there, but the ground is bone dry and the deep signals were all broken up and iffy, so I'll have to return when the ground gets damp.

I thought I've heard every stupid question and comment in the world from people watching me detect until today. I started hunting in a spot that was next to an outdoor smoking area for a building across the street. I had several people watching me as I was sweeping the detector, which I always do at busy parks, so I didn't pay attention. After a few minutes, I notice a guy shadowing me looking at the detector with a puzzled look on his face. Expecting the stock question: "what is that/what are you doing?", I took off my phones and said "HI".

He just simply said "That thing doesn't work very good."
I figured he must have been expecting me to be constantly stooping to dig and I hadn't dug a target yet.
I said "It works pretty good... when it wants to".
He replied "It must be broken.." then starts pointing at the ground all around me.
Puzzled, I looked around expecting to see clad coins laying all over the ground or something else I should have been finding.
All I saw was about a zillion cigarette butts all over the ground.....
He finally asks "Doesn't that thing vacuum up these cigarette butts?"

OK dude, Whatever...........

Take care and HH, Mike.

I'de say you gad a great day, but I only have an Ace 250...

That's pretty funny! Now you know where one of the dollars came from--he must have dropped it since it sounds like he was a day late and a dollar short when they were handing out brains.

I hit a sidewalk that was being cleared out last night (only managed one wheatie) and got the same question as the last time I'd hunted a torn-up sidewalk in Cambridge: "Digging for gold?" At least this time it was a kinda-hot older woman with a east-European accent and a smile walking by rather than a frat-boy screaming out a car window.

just leave all the silver please!

Seriously though don't you think that stupid people should be forced to wear signs that say they're idiots - that way you could have just looked up at him and said "Oh, sorry, I didn't see the sign" :lmfao:

I believe that the moron from the DPW must have been related to the guy you just met - he actually told us a couple of times that it would be OK to use the detector in the park as long as we didn't dig anything up. Kind of like playing a record with the volume turned down just to look at the label spin! Do you think we can get a patent on those signs and market them??? :yikes:

Both of you could use one of those t-shirts that say (with an arrow pointing off in one direction), "I'm with stupid."

:D

Do you mind if I print this story and pass it out at our next club meeting?.

(If you actually did want to make a shirt, let me know and I'll make a higher-res version for you.)

Can you make one that says....Welcome to NH....Now go away!.....Meaning Massholes! No offense but I have never met so many inconsiderate Mass holes in my life being at the beach. No consideration of others or beings.....its just get the f-out of my way cause I am coming thru.....Bite ME!......sad and sick Massholes I must say! I have a thousand stories and only one common denominator....MA.:smoke:

There are some nice people here--but you sure can't tell while driving. I can't wait to get out of this state. (Reviewing divorce docs and all the crap judges won't let you change, even if the soon-to-be-ex is willing, is positively infuritating and doesn't help my mood in that regard at the moment.) 5 more years (if I last that long.)

This past weekend, I was hunting with Tim and Dan in a Park. There was a wedding going on and one of the attendees walks over and chatted with Dan. Later, Dan comes over and I ask him what the fellow said and he asked Dan if he was, NOW GET THIS!, Looking For Oil!!!!:yikes: I started laughing since that wasn't what I expected to hear and I told Tim later on about it. He thought it was funny also since some lady asked the same question, Looking For Oil!!!!:yikes: How are you suppose to look for Oil with a Metal Detector? Look for used Oil Spots in hopes of Metal Shavings from a bad Engine! Nice finds Mike and Good Luck and HH in your next hunt.
