2 tone false signals

hello im new to the etrac im using 2 tone ferrous wide open im on ploughed fields i keep getting a high tone nearly when swinging. so i double check the signal and its gone is this normal its quite time
comsuming double checking everything intill i get a repeatable signal.

One of two things, or both. Sweeping too fast or not keeping your coil a consistent distance from the surface of the soil.

Slow down your sweep and maintain a consistent distance between the coil and the soil. Both will help minimize false signals.

If that doesn't help, you could try a lower sensitivity setting. But change your sweep technique before changing your settings. JMHO HH Randy

Randy is right, your swinging too fast in two tone you have to slow your swing speed to 2 or 3 seconds per swing

another thing I figured out in two tone to reduce false high tone hits is to disc out the 01 line. Nails will hit on the 01 line constantly from the iron wrap around affect.

I disc'd out 01-01 thru 01-31 and problem solved! no more falsing from the ends of nails

I notice when I bump my coil it will give high false tone...

Try smooth sounds. The falses will be "short" in comparison. to a good signal. You will still have to go back and check a few of them just to make sure, but it will make it a little more relaxing and you will be able to get into a groove. I find by slowing my walking pace just a bit, it also slows my swing speed.

You know its funny but most of the falses for me seem to come when you've come to end of the swing and start back the other way. That momentary lag is when I hear it false most of the time.

vtcivilwar, Try taping the cable to the top of the lower shaft leaving enough cable so there is slack for coil movement without stressing the cable. If the lower cable is loose and moves on contact with something, the movement is picked up by the coil. When the lower cable is still, the coil sees it and the processor disregards it as it is not in motion. Other than that the coil wire is loose in the potting material and you will have to refrain from bumping it or get a new coil. Let us know what you find.

Ah.....breaking the momentum! I sometimes get in a hurry when changing sweep directions, and lift the coil a bit at the end of each sweep. When I do, I get a short blast of false signal. I find I can control it by making sure I keep the coil flat and making a short "half circular" motion instead of an abrupt stop and go. JMHO HH Randy

You should be using at least a little disc, even if just the relic pattern. If you are goung to run a wide open screen you should sell the ET and get an Explorer. The ET needs a little disc to perform its magic.

I use the relic pattern and slghtly expand it, by a number or two, in proportion to what it already is.... it works very well and stops the falsing in Ferrous/2 tone.

Of course if you are using conductive/2-tones I don't have a good answer for you but I can't imagine why you would use conductive/2-tone... so I assume you're not.
