2 tone ferrous sounds saved the day! NICE indian!

started at an old area on my buddies property where I think an old church was. I got a 1920 wheat and the Army button. On the way to his house I noticed a 1 room school house and planned on stopping there on my way home.

Well I did not get much on my buddies property so I headed to the school, asked the owner if he minded if I hunted it and he gave me the go ahead, he told me I would not find anything it was hunted out, but said I was welcome to try. Withing 5 minutes I knew it was going to be tough. My etrac was in a SOLID null, the iron here was unbearable.

So thinking back to what I had read on find mall I put my etrac into ferrous sounds, 2 tones, and opened my screen wide up, and I crawled thru the iron digging any high tone. I got the 2 harmonicas, but the 1905 indian saved the day, it had iron all around it, in conductive sounds in the coin program it was a solid null, never would have got it. here is the video...........

you can even see all the diamonds on that indian.
Excellent video by the way.
Thanks for sharing.

Great job in difficult hunting conditions. Nice job with the video editing, too! That IH really cleaned up well. Did you clean it with peroxide?

Congrats!

nope! did u see how clean it is in the "dirty pic"? even in my video I show it to you right out of the ground. All I had to do was wash it with water a drop of dish soap using a soft toothbrush. I rarely if ever use peroxide on indians because it will remove the green patina. I do however use peroxide on wheats though because they normally do not clean up as nice as indians do. Majority of indians in my area only require cleaning like I described above. They normally come out pretty clean if found in soil.

AWESOME VIDEO goes!!!!! Keep them coming!

Beautiful Indian Goes. Nice work. Curious about null in conductive sounds coin mode. Was the Fe value on the Indian pretty high due to the iron around it? If you had run open screen in conductive sounds wouldn't the Etrac have sounded off on it?

Thanks

Is that in AM????? Mickfin

A great mode in iron patches!!

I've done well from it also, outside an old stable found 6 old coins dating back to the mid 1800's, only coins left on a hammered site. I use it often around old building sites with not much rubbish.

I feel I definatly have an advantage with the etrac in iron over most other detectors.

Well done!

A great job Terry! Love the Plat map background too! The E-Trac continues to amaze with its versatility!! Congratulations on the finds and thanks for the video!!

Great finds!!

Again....that setup just works extremely well and is very addictive. I use nothing else and it certainly winkles out good targets amongst the iron.

Gaz.

in ferrous the iron gives a low tone grunt, if I had it in conductive the iron gives a high tone just like a coin. The indian was bouncing around something like 07-35, 09-36, etc........but you could hear the high tone with the open screen, it was sandwiched in the middle of iron.

Now you know how effective the 2 tone ferrous pattern is why not use it all the time. I do, its great.

Nice finds G4E. And Kudo's for applying what you've learned in how to overcome a problem site. Understanding how a detector works and how to tweak it to overcome given situations in the field are keys to success. Nicely done. HH Randy
