2 TONE-FERROUS ?

Not me.

2-tone ferrous gives you iether a low tone for iron range or a high tone for everything else. So that means everything from CO 1 through CO 50 will give the same tone. IF you are hunting in a "dig it all" mode, then this could have some benefit, but when hunting homes, parks, etc where there is a lot of trash then Conductive tones makes more sense.

In the end, use the settings that work best. That's the great thing about this machine.

I'm a conductive tones guy in most detecting conditions, but I love two tone ferrous in iron patches, usually wide open...... You might dig the odd bit of large iron until you get used of it.

Works well, heaps of low "grunts" for the iron and listen out for high tone. I've used it in front of a couple of old horse stables and it worked really well. Only spot that was productive on the entire site, i'm guessing most detectors can't handle too much iron. ID's are miles off due to being so close to iron, but if it's in the top half of the CO scale it's a good chance for silver or copper.

I prefer pitch hold normally, but in this mode I find smooth works really well.....you don't miss much at all. oh yeah, slow your swing WAY down and a small coil helps in iron.

If you find a site that constantly nulls in a normal patteren, it's a good place to give this one a go.

Cheers,
Greg

Most of my hunting is in the iron infested areas that other detectors can't handle and stay away from. I put the Etrac in ferrous 2 tone with a 5" coil and the sensitivity to manual 30 and cherry pick the goodies right out of the trash. Sure you get all of the junk brass, copper, lead, alumimun, etc ... targets too but many of those turn out to be great finds also, like dog tags, tokens, costume jewelry, etc. Once I started using ferrous 2 tone it was hard to break away from it no matter what the ground conditions were.

I agree with Jason. In areas where you expect just iron and coins, it might have some benefit, but for areas like parks, schools and yards where you have a fair amount of other trash, use Conductive multi-tone.

It is almost all I use. It works like a charm. Cuts down the falsing and seperates like crazy. I also keep it in a modified relic pattern so I can hear all the iron too. I find lots of stuff at places where there shouldn't be anything left using ferrous/2 tone. It is sort of like an F75 running in 2F... works great but you have to use the numbers, especially the conductive number.

Try it for yourself, you'll see.

Some time ago I saw someone posted an image of a spreadsheet showing where good and bad targets generally fall on the conductive line. Does anyone have that link handy?

i think it was on the beepgoeson.comok it looks good ferrous 2 tone,i use pitch hold now on conduct so maybe, smooth?also if it works great in iron areas then it would be awesome at the beach then yes?

could someone post a link for their ferrous 2 tone program? id like to try it. sounds like it would be productive in some of my favorite hunt spots. and might as well take advantage ov the exchange program (think we all traded a few extra beans to have it)

Mine is just a wide open screen, tones to two-tone, and set for ferrous. I'll use smooth response in this mode most of the time and +3 Auto. all the other stuff is personal preference.

Just watch the iron faulsing across the top.....next time I'm going to try a thin line 3/4 the way across the top to quiet things up in dense iron (probably use the top half of AndyS 's coin pattern....should be kick ass)

Hope it works for ya,
Greg
