2014 FINDS

I've heard about Lady Luck casting a smile but
I think she's been laughing out loud at my Sovereign and me so far this year.
All of these finds came out of 2 runnels with the exception
of the cushion cut 18 K flawless diamond ring. Found it on a -1.7 tide
day in January. Got the 8.3 gram ring this morning at about 1:30 a.m.
The last time, out before this morning's effort, I found eleven cents
in just over 5 hours. Had fun though.
At 67 years old, it's sad to think that my days of enjoying this
wonderful are numbered.

Awesome finds, that's great! You've got many years left hunting yet! I know what you mean, It's such a funny hobby, you never know if you will find something valuable or junk. It's great when you are hitting it, and when you're missing the good stuff it's still better than just sitting around..... Did the battery issue on the watch get sorted?

67? yrs old? Yeah, I'd say its about time for you to call it quits and send me all your gear! all our days are numbered, some fewer than others..you know theres people out there in their 20's that cant physically do what you do? Looks like you are just warming up! Theres lots worse places to die than face down in the sand with a scoop full of gold...maybe when you hit 70 you can think about taking up stamp collecting or something? Until then, stay in it and keep hunting!

I took it to a 2nd jeweler who stated that it's
probably a speck of dust that was jamming up the works.
She blew it out using compressed air and it hasn't missed a second since.

Speaking of gear, I'm stocking up on as many Sovereign GTs
as I can buy.
Minelab taking them off the market was probably just a business
move. They may have felt that the Sovereign was hurting their Excalibur
and CTX sales.

My friend Doug is 73 and he runs round the beach swinging his safari with ultimate 13" coil all day........he can put me to shame and i'm 44 lol.So don't worry El pulltabio,you've got loads of hunts left in you......when you find gold it takes years off your age.

In today's years you are YOUNG! We have one member in our club and at 87 he outdetects many of us in our 60s. A couple of months ago he found and returned a class ring. Yes, he mainly detects in the water, year round in New England. at 82 several of us traved to the Caribbean, he went and I still remember him getting flipped, going under, getting up and continue detecting. Another club I belong to a couple of years ago the average age was OVER 60!

You are only as old as your mind thinks you are...just keep on detecting and enjoy every target. You should have a few there that many detectorists would call once in a lifetime find.

As for detecting in the water, coming out,with gold in your pocket, resting on your scoop, watching the other detectorist, and the falling flat, never to get up again...It happend to one dear detectorist. I was not there, but several members of the club have told me the story. It as in the days before cell phones, but they probably would not have saved him. God rest his sole. He is now digging all the heavy metal from the light and flully clouds. I hope to meet you there someday so we can swap stories of how it was!

Wow, nice finds! I wouldn't worry too much about numbered days, just keep doing what you're doing. I'll be 69 in a couple months and this great hobby is the only thing that keeps me moving, and posts like yours keep me motivated.
