Hi all. I am enjoying your posts and your finds. keep em coming. well, got out a little this week and found the typical clad and stuff, these two are the highlights. The first is rather interesting.....I am not sure what it is all about. it looks like a botched attempt at a counterfeit. Date is 1844 and back and front are identical to that years large cent style. I think it is made out of pewter. When I first saw it, I thought it was a off-set die mis-strike, but the metal is wrong. The second is a barber dime. Both coins were found down about 6-7 inches. I found an indianhead too, but I misplaced it. HH, Dan

Great finds Dan !

that counterfeited silver dollars. The field where their house used to be was on a property that I already had permission to hunt so I went there and sure enough I found a broken in half silver dollar made out of lead! I love confirming old stories with finds. I'm sure there's a story with your coin! Great finds! Mike
