Once again, got out for a bit from time to time throughout the week to a few sites, some older than others.Found the usual goodies,a nice crotal bell,a candle ''snuffer'',3 early buttons,a broken thimble with a silver plated broken knitting needle inserted into it.I also found a nice mens sterling silver wedding band on the edge of a field.A couple of other whatzits were found as well.
Met up with my buddy Bomber John today around 11 and we hit the woods on the 4 wheeler.Site #1 was somewhat trashy but the E-Trac managed to squeak an 1818 Matron Head LC out of the soil.An hour or so later, got a strange, but repeating signal from inside of the cellar where the central chimney was and was lucky enough to dig a nice King George III half penny dated 1781.Soon after,we went to site #2 which was about a half mile down the road.John was doing very well with his DFX finding buttons and I was finding nothing.I slapped the 5'' Sunray on and hit the inside of the cellar and got a nice repeating 12/46.Dug down and out popped the most gorgeous dug ''early''copper that I have ever seen.It is an 1816 Matron Head LC that looks as if it was just dropped yesterday. It was beteween some rocks and in very dark soil that must have somehow preserved it.The pics of it do not do it justice. It is simply amazing.Great day with a great MD companion.Oh yeah, all finds were caught on video.John is just incredible with the cam.I'm sure he will post his finds soon as well as the vid. Thanks for reading.
