$325- Thats what it cost to have my Safari repaired. Wasnt under warranty. They replaced the complete circuit board, since the couldnt find which part was the problem.

a bad spark plug, couldn't find the bad one , hell lets put a new engine in !! Just curious, why did you send it in for repairs anyway??

Mark ( ohio )

While I was digging a target, the Overload popped up on the screen. Tried everything to get rid of problem, no luck

SWMO Mark- That stinks. I don't wish that on anyone. Been fortunate that once safari reads overload, I just back away from the area so the reset happens. A few questions. What were you scanning that read overload that prompted you to dig & what was the item you recovered ? Finally, where did you send your unit for repairs ? HH

I was digging a penny signal. The detector was just sitting on the ground next to me and started to go off into overload. Sent it to Vegas.

Sorry to hear about your detector I kinda know a very little how you feel I was hunting heavy trash mine locked up sounded like bird in a blender it recovered again sorry about loss detector hunting time.I already decided if mine breaks down within a year I will never buy another Minelab. One thing I am only 50 miles away from there new office if I have any problems it will be one on one not over phone.

Page 20 Safari Instruction Manual: Large objects close to the coil may OVERLOAD the detectors electronics. When this happens, Safari displays an OVERLOAD message and emits an OVERLOAD sound until the coil is moved away from the source of the OVERLOAD. OVERLOADING is NOT harmful to the electronics of the detector. Look it up read it for yourself. They should not have charged you for a problem you had no control over. That being said I would protest the charges. If Minelab ignores you take them to small claims court. JMHO HH :minelab:

What condition where your batteries in? If they were marginal the overload signal and display could have just pulled you into a problem. I take it that on turning it off it just ran back to overload on turning it on?

You may have had a shorted coil or connector cord.

Sometimes they find a simple problem fix it and charge you for a completley different repair/part/problem.

Sorry to hear it cost you that much.
