Today was a RARE morning for me....10:00 to 2:00 FREE.:wiggle: I headed to the old worn out park a few miles away. We used to hold club hunts here back in the late 80's and early 90's. Lots of great stuff came out of here for lots of people. I found some deepies there last year too.
I started to hunt and hadn't swung the coil 10 times before I saw an older lady walking her dog towards me. She was smiling and I love animals...so I took off the headphones and set the SE down. The little dog was trotting my way so I put out my hands to pet him. He ignored me...sauntered by me... then promptly hiked up his leg and tinkled on my coil. :lmfao:Wonderful! :rolleyes:He then let me pet him...the lady apologized...and they went on their way.
Back to hunting...and boy did it heat up quickly. Within 5 minutes I popped out a badly corroded injun from 9". Kept playing around the same area and within another 15 minutes got another deep signal. This was a crazy signal...yet peeped high tone at times that begged to be dug. I thought..."no way I should really dig this"..as I bent down to cut a plug. I cut a deep plug and ran the probe in the hole...nothing. I dug another 3" out of the hole then ran the probe again...and it sang...yippee! From 9" to 10"...out popped the 1918 merc on edge.:super:
After about 40 minutes I got a weird low signal...the kind that I rarely pay any attention to...BUT it had the slightest high tone with it. The cursor started about 1/2" up from the bottom right of the screen...then bounced straight left 3/4 accross the screen where it locked on where I have my iron mask set at. Again...I do not usually dig lower hits like this...but something in the tone of the signal obviously made me want to dig... and the depth meter was buried...so I did.:detecting: I got down a good 8" and the probe was still singing. I plopped out another big chunk of dirt and saw an imprint of a green circle. I thought..."what the heck"...no way a wheatie or injun puts off a low tone like that. I dug out another clod and from right at 10" down...out popped the 1862 Fatty Injun:yikes:...my FIRST in 30 years of huntin'. It ain't purty...but's it's ALL MINE!:bouncy:
After that...the coins just kept comin'. EVERY coin I dug over the next 3 hours was 8" to 10" deep. All three of the other injuns came from over 9" down.
Even though I am still pumped over finding my first ever fatty...one of my favorite finds of all time also came today. From 10" down came the beautiful "stretched" wheatie that has the Lord's Prayer imprinted on it. It is in great shape and you can clearly read each and every word on it. I will NEVER forget digging it the same hunt I found my first fatty injun.:wiggle:
What a great 4 hour hunt at a POUNDED park.

butter because you are on a ROLL nice find, crusty or not!

WTG, Bryce! Congrats on that fatty.

Was that with the 1050? (Sounds awful deep for a 6" coil.)

n/t

OK, it was the dog pee that magnified your coil to its exceptional depth......and also the lords prayer made you forgive the dog for it, cause he trespassed on your coil.....and then he rewarded you for your kindness....end of story......Congrats...

I'm thinking you got extra depth with the dampness.................You might say it sented out the find..LOL

Question?? Did you rinse that coil off when you got home... Cause if you didn't and you have a dog..well you can figure that one out..

Maybe the dog give your Coil some good luck. It sure didn't effect the performance of your detector, that is for sure. Congrats on a great hunt and hope many more great finds make their way into your pouch. Good Luck and HH.:detecting:
