[attachment 62771 coins6.jpg]What a great evening detecting with the SE. We went to the site of an old school and the monument said 1904 to 1971. It was one of the better hunts I have had in a while and I don't remember the last time I found this many wheaties and 3 silver coins in one hunt! It was also very meaningful as I was trying to show my son Kendrick that there's more to life than skateboarding and head bangin' music!!
I let him use my XL PRO with the sunray probe and he did well. I have been telling him I would post his first "wheatie" find on the forum...so here they are. He found TWO in one hole 6" deep so that made it that much more fun.
He also found a very nice ring that just about made my heart stop..until I could see it wasn't real gold and diamonds...but it sure was a thrill for him. I told him "a ring's a ring" and is always a keeper.
I don't know if we can pry him away from the skateboard again...but at least he went with us this time and found some goodies.
My lady found a neat old charm that I'm sure had a silver dime or other coin in it an one time...but no longer. A dime fit perfectly in the center at home so I bet it did hold a coin. She also found some clad and a neat old wedding band. Although it isn't gold...again...a ring's a ring and I didn't find one! They BOTH skunked me there!
I found 14 wheaties (two 1919's) ...two mercs... a 1914 Barber dime 9" deep..... a completely worn and worthless shield nickel (still neat to find)...a pocket knife 10" deep...and a turning combination part of one of the old school lockers at over a foot deep. Just an overall nice 6 hours of detecting!
Happy hunting to everyone.
