6 inch minelab coil vs. coiltek coil

Both are very good. The Coiltek coil floats so if you plan to use it in the water you may not like it. I'm really impressed with the 6". Mine hits targets pretty far out on the fringes.

I was advised to get the Coiltek by my dealer and love it! Found a really worn 1841 half dime with it at 5" in trash. Haven't used it in water so I can't say about that.

Have not used the coiltek but the Minelab 6 inch really works great both in the water and on land. That being said your soil or search area could make a huge difference. Good luck on your decision and if you lived close you would be more than welcome to try mine. HH :minelab:

I have had the honor of testing my friend cliff's coiltek. It works very well. I have taken it over a high iron homestead that I have hunted for hours upon hours with the stock 11". In rescan of the relatively small area I found 3 paper shotgun shell butts and an ih that were in high iron. I have yet to take it to a trashy park and see how deep it goes. Everything I have found at the homestead has been 4-5" deep.

It is a bit awkward when you clip a twig or bump; the side of the coil is tall and makes the balance a bit off. So a bump to the side can throw you out of rhythm.

It does however float in water and can be a bit of a bear to control on an uneven bottom.

I am looking forward to trying it out in trashy "hunted out" parks. I will update my review at that point. HH
