9.0 vs 9.1 DST on F75LTD2 More guidance please

Ok there has been lots of discussion on 9.0 vs 9.1. and which one has more or less noise surpression. The manual says one is DST On the other is Off. What I would like to know is how Fisher recommends we use thiese two options. Does one work better for some situations then others. The manual is very good at giving tips on how to best use different features of the F75LTD2. So please Fisher if you are listening give us more guidance on these two options.

Thanks.

I am not Fisher, but it would seem to me that if the machine runs stable with DST off that would be the way to go. Then if you start having EMI problems run DST on.

I have not needed DST on at all yet on my machine.

If 9.0 would have been better all around, I don't think they would have added the 9.1.

I can not really tell a difference between them. But others have said that the manual is not correct and neither option is off. Others say the manual has off and on backwards. So you may be right in that if you do not need noise surpression do not use it. But what is the correct answer to which is on or off or is it just partial on and full on no off?

I also can't speak for Fisher, but I agree they likely intended everyone to be using v9.1.

You never hear Microsoft saying Windows v7.01 has advantages over Windows v7.02

EMI mitigation goes through this process....

First line of defense is freq shifting.
Second line of defence is decrease sensitiivty settings. If the sens decrease is not acceptable then....
Third line of defense is DST on,
Forth line of defense is DST on, with a freq shift,
Fifth line of defense is DST on, freq shift, decrease sensitivity settings.

Or you can be lazy and just go straight to number 3.

As to which DST setting is ON vs OFF, that you need to find out for yourself or you will not be able to intelligently use it.

It is my experience that 9.0 is a bit quieter than 9.1.

I can base this on the use of my Garrett Pin Pointer.

Turn the pin pointer on and slowly move it toward the coil to see where the F75 starts to pick up the signal.

In 9.0 I can move it to within a foot before it picks up the signal.
In 9.1 I get interference about 2 or three foot away.

ALSO - I would like Fisher to provide a new INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO on how to use the new F75 LTD2---- Wouldn't that be nice?

Hello all. My findings 9.0 is quieter than 9.1. Based on tests I did next to a civil com tower. Also at the same location I tested depth differences in both modes with stock settings. Minimal decrease. In depth dst on. But slower recovery speed! In dst mode. Overall the f75ltd 2. Is much more stable slightly deeper than my camo ltd. And allaround nicer to use. Fisher did well with this new unit. Now mine is a 75ltd2dst. Not an upgrade! I also find that the nel hunter coil is a very good choice. It is very tight seperation is far better than the stock biaxial. And about 1/2-1in deeper. In ground. I'm impressed at what I polled from a park in which I test all my new units. The area I use is older. The original park. The area is gridded off I hunt it the same way with every unit. Back and forth with a slight overlap then at a 45deg angle. The area measures 925ft x 293ft. Now I have used every top shelf unit and the 75ltd2dst. Certainly impressed me won't get into finds mostly clad from 2ins to 8ins. But the unmasking ability is there in the new 75. And I like the hunter coil. Just my 2cents. But felt I needed to post on the positive preformance of the unit. Ps I have run thru every process and tone option. It's a winner. HH c t

CoinRescue, thumbs up to the test with the Garrett PP.

I am with c t. I've been running in 9.0 and my version 2 (new) runs quiet and it is quite a bit hotter depth wise then my camo LTD. This thing is a pure joy to hunt with. HH jim tn

so jim i have the camo ltd which i had upgraded. It has 9 and 9.1. are you saying the software in it now is not up to par with the 75 ltds they are selling new now? Are you referring to those new ones as the 75ltd2 ?thanks, CO

As Nasa Tom has stated several times, 9.0 is 80% DST and 9.1 is 100%.

That also mirrors what everyone in the field has experienced (9.1 is more EMI resistent, BUT in BP and CL modes you'll get delayed audio).

So it's simple, if you're at a site and 9.0 mode still has EMI issues, then try 9.1.

Also, regardless of 9.0 or 9.1, try to find the cleanest F1-F7 frequency. The easiest way to do this appears to be to go into AM mode set the threshold as stabily high as possible, and then cycle through F1-F7 to see which one in AM mode is the cleanest frequency.

When I said "my camo LTD" I should have stated my last camo F 75 LTD, which I no longer have. The new version 2 I have is deeper in de and bp modes then my old camo LTD was. Thats what I meant. HH jim tn

I was kind of hoping FT would step up to the plate and comment on this. It would clear the air and settle the question because if anyone ever asked we could refer to this post. Who knows they still may.

For now I will go with what Tom says and what Cal pointed out. 9.0 80% and 9.1 full EMI - only use 9.1 if you really needed it.

Unfortunately First Texas doesn't seem to know their own product, and if you call their support folks, they just reitterate the typo in the manual on the DST modes :punch:

Sadly with all the issues they had with the upgrade in the first place, they're not doing us or themselves any favors by not keeping their data up to date :pinnochio

That sounds good 9.0. Freq shift and give it a shot the FT. Manual is clearly wrong. I no longer have my camo 75. Either but I'm not missing it this new ltd2 dst unitbis pretty amazing. Next set of tests with my new 13in ultimate. One of these days. OK Bryannagirl. Get out and hunt use dst as needed. Learn the machine. It will talk to you. I like to hunt in je sense 85. 9.0 2h. Disc 4. You can really up a park with these settings. As well as a battlefield. 2f was my favorite tone setting on my camo ltd but 2h seems to be the ideal tone setting on the ltd2. Get some good headphones if you don't already have some and listen. Soon you will know exactly what you're hearing and know what you've found before you dig not only will you know what's in the ground but the depths well. HH c t

Here is the info I received direct from Fisher when I asked this question.

Hello Steven,

The correct information is, 9.0 is on and 9.1 is off.

Arturo is an outstanding fellow. He has always taken care of business when I needed something he was right there. Now as far as the reply I'm sure he just referenced the manual. I'm still waiting on a reply from the head tech Daniel. With regards to. The same question I'm sure it will be in my inbox mon tue. But for now as far as my ltd2. Non upgraded. The manual is wrong. Ps the new 75 or 75 with dst upgrades. Is an amazing machine top notch. I guess if you own one you know that. My advice find a problematic emi area and switch between the 2 software versions then we'll it should clear things up. HH. C t

My new production F-75 LTD-2 is awesome. Scary deep in Discrim and quiet and a hair deeper in AM. This is at my house where the EMI makes calm detectors like a Whites Classic Ii go batshit.
