A few trips back to the old Acadian

Louisiana Ken

These are some of the items I dug at the 1820's Acadian between 2/5/11 and 4/18/11. I got injured and am still recovering; have been able to hunt for about 2 weeks now. Anyways, managed to pull out another LC, 1827, on 2/5/11 (only good find that day). About 2 weeks ago, that awsome E-TRAC w/ a 6X8 SEF coil got me what appears to be portion of a money box. Pic 2 shows a brass key hole w/ a U.S. key hole cover built into an iron box. Owner of the property use to have documents showing in 1862 that 3 Confederate ships unloaded some items there from the New Orleans Mint after the fall of New Orleans (sounds cool to me!). That was the only neat find that day. The next day or so I hunted the back yard and found 3 flat buttons, 2 underwear buttons?, a fancy lead button, a buckle, and a brass clasp looking thing. The last pic shows an old broach.

***Before the hunts about 2 weeks ago, I broke my headphones (a wire ripped out). I hunted w/o headphones w/ the volume turned up higher going over the areas I've been over many times. I discovered that I had new really good targets to dig. Pics 2 and on.***

About a week ago w/o using head phones and going over the same areas w/ my new 12X15 SEF coil, I found my very 1st 3 ringer and what I think is the casing for it, I think. The next pic shows a carved bullet, 1937 Buffalo, 1936 wheaty and an old automoble key. Pic 3 shows what I think are the inards to an old clock. Pic 4 shows a small square nail that came out of the same hole as that suspender clasp looking thing. Pic 5 shows what I missed many times w/ the other coils (clad, wheaties, and a 1943 P war nickel. The last pic shows other keys, bullets, musket ball, and camp lead.

The awsome find for today!

The 12X15 SEF got me this 1827 capped bust dime JR8 variety in G4. I dug this approximately 15 feet from where I found that beautiful 1820 capped bust dime JR-9 varity in AU. I assure you I spent a lot of time in that area after the 1820 dime. The 1827 was about 4 inches down on edge! What a great coil. Can't wait to get back out there and do it all over again!!!!

Thanks for looking and good luck at your sites!

Kenny
