A very hard week at that--going in behind top pros. This guys dig everything and some (stupidly) leave all their targets in the water. What worked was recognising the interference of the sidewall and working it with accurate (lowered) pulse settings and super slow sweep speed. I can't stress enough how important it is to use a pulse to have a two way conversation with the ground conditions. If you do this properly you can go in behind anyone and find gold. Also, a lot of stuff is lost on the steep sidewall and sinks deep in the soft sand. Total 1.8 oz. Three bands at front are all 18k from left 13.7 gr. (oh ya!) 10.2 gr. and 6.9 gr. some smaller bands in the back and a couple of small .25 rocks up front.

Great finds as usual Clive! Thanks for posting for us. I can't wait to get out here in Minnesota & try out my Dual Field. I've reading & re-reading Pulse Power & Advanced Techniques for the Dual Field. I'll have them memorized by the time winter finally gives up. Just remember, when you hear that threshold climbing, slow the coil down and maybe even give it some delay to hear better. You can also back the t/h control off as well as a last resort.

That's some nice chunks of treasure, specially with so many now on the boat to those out of away places. I know of one of those hunters who just hit his first big one and is now looking for some exotic places he can do it again....you really have to put yourself in the places where the odds are better at scoring, his cash proceeds from one big one.. less cash for a new CTX

Gotta love this Hobby....:thumbup:

What a thrill to recover those rings and oldbeechnut's buddy hit the big time. I was weighing up the gold and silver I found since November of 2012 and it's mighty pitiful compared to these items. Big to me, tho. 30.65 grams of 14K, 17.17 grams of 10K,
1.23 grams of 18K and 31.02 of 92.5 sterling silver. A few of the stones in these rings are real, but most are junk. That's just from fresh water hunting, but hope to make the surf one day. Thanks for posting cjc & obn.
 
Just got the PLAT test kit and sure enough the big (13.7 gr.one in the middle holds test.
Mud take note--that's a LAND find. couple of hudred v-ball courts and bingo!
