All metal sounding off on every swing ????

I decided the other day to try all metal on a relic hunt. I had to switch back to disc because on every swing to the left, no matter how short or long, slow or fast it would sound off at the end of the swing to the left. Swing to the right... no problem, to the left... waaahhh.

I am trying really hard to like the LTD and I am an experienced F75 user. An original F75 was my main detector for over a year and I made many great finds with it but I mostly hunted in 2F and about 75 sens. At most places I have to use a sens of 50 on the LTD and a disc of 6. Some places I have been able to run the sens on 99 with the disc on 0 and at other sites I have had to just put it back in the truck.

I am sold on the whole concept and being able to swing it with an air gap and not lose depth. I also like that I don't have to sweep it so fast, I naturally have a slower swing.

As for the bouncing TID numbers I wonder if raising the coil and/or slowing the swing will stabilize the number, maybe the increased power is making the TID unstable? I'll try it next time I use the LTD. I didn't use it yesterday because I got so flustered last week with that constant wah at the end of the swing to the left.

I did use the T2 with the small coil on an old trashy confederate trenchline... it has been hunted over the years and totally trashed... but I did find a couple of period pieces of lead and a small finial. I was able ot run it on 99 sens but I had to run the disc on 10 or above but... the T2 has an extended iron range. A nickle hits 58 on the TID out of 0 to 99... I dug lots of .22 slugs and brass, .38 Special slugs and brass.

Anyway... is there something wrong with my F75 LTD? Does your LTD wow or whine on every left swing in all metal? I was using the 11" stock coil and the ground was sandy/neutral, very little trash. IIRC, the GB was in the mid 40s but sometimes got up into the 60s (I check it often and fastgrab a lot... and in AM I usually raise it by a number after the FG).

They interfere with each other when the probe is OFF. It's the most noticeable in AT. That's how I discovered it.

Mine does the same thing, but make sure you don't have it in the SAT mode. Make sure you are in the Motion Mode, but mine will still give a litttle winding sound on the left swing. I just don't pay it any mine. Bear

something large on that side of your body - digs pouch, pinpointer, digger, etc... that's what mine is - and if I'm carrying my digger in my left hand I have to hold it behind my back.

one should pay it mind because if that happens every swing no matter where you are, then it is because of something you're carrying and it is diminishing the detector's ability to hear a fringe target for a lot of your swing arc. Do a little sleuthing and by process of elimination, figure out what the culprit is and try to relocate how/where you carry it. That's a small price to pay for increased controllable sensitivity. As I mentioned around the Pro-Pointers, if I don't carry mine at least back at my 6 to 7:00, I can hear it easily in AT and I'm sure it isn't helping my cause if I'm hunting in any of the disc modes either.

in AT mode. Like you I have to hold the digger behind my back.

the effect of the interplay between the Greek Teks and the Pro Pointers is still an issue but just a fraction of what it is with the F-75/T-2 originals and LTD's.

Still using the tried and true 50/50 hand method of retrieval. Have layed either of my hands down and forgotten them yet.

I too use the propointer Brad, never thought it would or could affect my F75's depth. But I guess you all are talking about the LTD? RIGHT.

I don't use am all that often, but noticed the same thing on the left swing. I finally determined it was picking up my shovel which I carry in my left hand. Holding in just a bit behind my left hip solved the problem. HH jim tn

I checked this with three different Pro Pointers, five F-75's, two T-2's, and one LTD. It showed up `100% no matter which of the probes or detector. It obviously was more pronounced of all on the LTD when in a boost mode.

Brad, I use the Garrett Pro Pointer with my T-2 all the time and I don't have a problem.

Detector on with normal adjustments and in all metal mode with an audible threshold. Take the Pro Pointer switched OFF and point it towards the top of the coil from say 2 feet away and move it back and forth. While doing this, you don't hear any threshold fluxuation at all? Frequency adjustment on the T-2 won't make any difference either because the probe is off.

No problem with my Garret/ F75 . but i do get occasional false on swing to right when wearing boots .
Not steel toe just picking up the eyelets so i shorten my swing .
Left or Right handed your swing arm and leg stay about the same distance apart but your cross sweep will be closer to opposite leg.

This thread is confusing. I'm pretty sure we answered him but then it looks like some were confused that we were talking about interference. This is just about detecting a large object on the left side of your body where a right handed swing would necessarily get the coil closer on that side. It happens with other detectors too but not as pronounced as BP mode is.

Brad is right. I'm not an all metal hunter. The threshold changes instantly. I set up my T-2, while holding the Garrett behind my back, and I noticed the difference as I brought the pro-pointer around to my side. I'm one of the confused ones.
I suppose hunting in discrimination mode with 0 disc. is a whole lot different from all metal mode, as far as results are concerned. It sucks that you have a great detector and a great pinpointer and you can't use them together.

I'm well aware that too much "carried" metallic mass too near a coil will cause issues. That's the basic and easy answer and until we hear back from Julien, might be all he's dealing with. The other situation I'm talking about is to Julien and anyone else that actually uses a Pro Pointer and, from what I have seen first handedly, apparently any of the high freq Teks and Fishers.

because I've been talking about this since last September and understandably, most guys are pretty doubtful until they see it for themselves. I hunt the LTD in BP AM more often than not and the good news is I found that if I wear my Pro Pointer on my waist holstered at my 6:30 maybe give or take :30, I don't hear any interplay unless I artificially extend my normal swing to the left. Been wanting to try wearing it on a vest up higher but haven't tried that yet.
