Andy Sabisch book

WOOHOO! I got my book by Andy Sabisch today and have already read a third of it and it is an awesome read. It explains things so well that even an old fool like me can understand it. When I had the DFX, I had the book by Jeff Foster and there were some parts I had to go back and read several times before it would sink in. Not so with this one. I WILL read this at least twice before warm weather gets here. He explains things in plain english that everyone can understand, and that is what I like about it. This book coupled with the owners manual, and all the great info I am getting from this forum should really set me up great for this years hunting. Man I can't wait for spring to get here. Speaking of this years hunting, the first test for my ETrac will be to go back to an area that I found two Barber quarters and some other silver at. I hit this area real hard with three different coils and thought it to be hunted out. We'll see!

I have read that book at least 5 times over the winter. Its a great book, I just like to read it because its all about the Explorer and E-Trac.

I'm with you. I studied the heck out of the Jeff Foster book for months in the past 2 years, and had to re-read it many times. The technology was complicated. Each time I would go back to a factory program and modify it so I could hunt. After 2 years wiith it I feel refreshed to find a very simple book by Andy. I have been out 3 times since I got mine on Dec. 2nd. I have already reached 4" targets in frozen ground.. Slowing down the sweep speed seems to be the way to go but when it locks on to a find I have no trouble telling the differeence in targets usung the principals in Andy's book. The DFX is a good machine but has too long of a learning curve for me. I will keep it for the DFX and use only the Bigfoot coil. You can't beat it in competition hunts which I indulge in a couple of times a year. It won't be too long and there will be some areas of unfrozen ground and we will be able to test the ET. Right, hoser? HH

I sure hope so Jaybird. Its pretty bad when you get a new machine and can't do anything with it for several months other than look at it. But you can bet once the snow starts going away I'll be out there giving it the test for sure.

Andy's book is fantastic - I always take his book and the factory ET manual with me just in case.
I've had real good luck running Andy's Coin & Jewelry Beach program on freshwater sand beaches - this beach program is on page 130 ( or close to it ) in the book.

The only complaint I have about the book is I think it should have been a stand alone book. Too much irrelevant info about the explorer and if you're not paying close attention you can overlap info.

That said, I have ADD so maybe it's just a problem for me.

Everyone has their own writing style and I'm glad that mine seems to hit the mark with a great many treasure hunters and has over the some 25+ years I've been writing.

As far as the E-Trac & Explorer Handbook, I have to thank a lot of really talented hunters from around the world that willing supplied tips and input that made the book what it is. (And don't forget to check out Jesse's finds in the photo section . . . . . . had to add that Jesse - thanks agin for the cool finds you sent me)

Have a new book coming out in about three weeks which will be brand neutral and contains a wealth of tips, techniques, references and more covering virtually all aspects of the hobby. It also has a 2010 Equipment Buyers Guide which presents all the different equipment out there in a different format . . . . . . more details will be posted soon.

I find that if you read the book then play with the detector it's easier to understand.
