Any maps for New York State?

Any maps for Steuben County of New York State? And to be more precise, I am especially looking for the Wheeler township area of Steuben County. Am most interested in old maps that show where houses once stood. Am trying to locate some old locations of homes in the area. Thanks for any help or suggestions.:garrett:

Hi Krista
I would check this 1873 map with homesites.
http://www.historicmapworks.com/Map/US/3488/Wheeler/

Or if you like, check out the entire 1873 Steuben atlas here

To zoom in really close you may have to create an account on historicmapworks. It is free though. I was just using one of the maps I printed out from their site this weekend while detecting.

this map is nice also but not as detailed

hey Killmerg i just want to thank you for posting the link to the map of the area she lives in, i searched the same site and found a map to my area, and i also did a bit of looking on google maps to help me pinpoint different areas, and i found a section of land that used to be an old school so now i just need to figure out what to say to the homeowners to allow my to MD there

Hi Siz
Good luck with getting permission. I love these old map sites... My Killmer side of the family has been in Dutchess for hundreds of years so it is interesting to see the name as a landowner way back then.

wow that's a long time to have a family bloodline in one place, mine is the city and European countries. thanks for the good luck, i still need to figure out how I'm going to do so but hopefully I'll get it and I'll get a nice day to do it on

Try this

http://docs.unh.edu/nhtopos/NewYork.htm

Click on the area you need and llok for the town of interest...

The maps indicate house for the time of the mapping...

so the dots = the houses? are there any maps that are in more closer detail?
