Anyone else have this ETRAC problem?

Just started the other day. When I turned on my detector I got the audio but the screen was blank after it fired up. Turned it of and on it was fine. Detected for a bit and my cross hairs box was leaving trails on the screen evreywhere. Did this for about a half hour. Battery has full charge. Off and on again and it quit after a bit. Now when I use it i get the blank screen every now and then still (audio works). I just cleaned the thing top to bottom and under the coil cover. Even opened the box and blew it out. Fired it up --- no screen display again. Don't want to send it in yet this is my favorite time of the year for detecting.

No, something is definitely not right. I don't know exactly what you have going on but if it is in fact doing what you said it's doing then I don't see a way around a trip to the doctor (Minelab USA). The good news is Minelab is great at getting you sorted out which means that you shouldn't be without your machine for very long ( I would say 14 days or so). Sorry to her about your issues but I have never, not once, heard about this kind of problem. I'm sorry your having issues but I am sure Minelab will take good care of you. I would recommend giving them a call and asking someone in the service department what you should do.

Let us know how it all ends up and good luck. -Marc

Yeah thats what I'm thinking as well. I have an Excalibur II I can use while it is out but I never really used it on land.

My first detector I ever bought was an Excal and I used that machine on land plenty until the day that I bought my first Explorer Se Pro. The Excal should do you just fine for land hunting while the ET is at the doctors. I still use my Excal for land hunts every now and then when I am in the mood. Sounds like you have a real problem and hunting with a crippled machine takes away from the fun. I would recommend sending it in and getting it sorted asap. Keep us posted how it all plays out. Like I said, I would guess you should have it back within 14 days hopefully so your season shouldn't be affected too much. -Marc

Call Minelab 1-877-767-6522 and tell them about your problem. They will send you a shipping label and you will be back in business shortly. By the way did you try a factory reset? Let us know how your problem turns out. The Excall is a great land machine. HH :minelab:

I have not done a factory reset yet but I will do that. As far as sending it in it will have to wait until I get some funds saved up. A buddy of mine just sent his Excal. in for a shorting headphone wire and they wanted $600.00:surprised: Wish we had some electronics guru's we could go to for aftermarket fixes.
