Just curious if anyone reading this ever found a gold coin?? Whether you use the E-Trac or not...I'd like to hear the story about how you came to find your gold coin. Pictures are appreciated but optional.

Thanks in advance,

NebTrac

1881-S $10. Found it with a friend at an old ghost town using a sifting screen. Wrote up the story for W&E Treasures. Was put in the silver and gold issue. I think the 1993 issue, I will look.

Still looking for #1 with a detector.

I have, an 1862 $1.00 Gold Piece at the Blue & Gray Invitational Hunt in Virginia in March 2009 I had had the E-Trac since October 2008 and this was my first Relic Hunt with the E-Trac. I found the coin in the same hole with a Knap Sack Rivet. I have found 8 gold coins with various other machine over my 42 year Carree using a metal detector, but this was the first one with the E-Trac. Thanks...Jesse.

Yep, under a playground no less. 2009

I one find a postulaatgulden from Luik (belgium) , period :1484-1492
Found it in the Netherlands.

And went crazy when i found it:yikes:

Found a 1915 $2.50 Indian Head in a mans ring while water hunting in 1980. Had the coin removed from the ring and put in a coin holder to hang on a gold chain and gave it to my son for his 16Th birthday. When he was 18 he claimed he lost the coin off the chain. A couple years latter I found the coin holder in one of his dresser drawers when we were moving. If he sold it I hope it was for a good reason as that is the only gold coin I ever found. I never said anything to him about it as I saw no reason to destroy a good relationship over water over the bridge. I'm still looking for that second one. Rick (IL)

I have never found one out hunting on my own.But owner of farm he and his son tearing out pig yard to turn into field again called me to recover and to teach and recommend which detector to buy they had already found about 100 gold coins and 3000 dollars in silver.Did what I was asked to do recovered a lot of coins. found were coins were coming from 10 gallon crock with copper rain gutter coming out of top so you could make deposit they followed me around all day. They bought my detector and all my stuff on the spot, I made a nice sum of money and gave me 20 silver dollars never heard about anything else. Two brothers approached me recommended by there insurance man who I had recovered rings and Rolex watch for his clients in past. They had family treasure story they had looked bought metal detectors, dug holes, for over 100 year great great grampa was in civil war found or stole treasure. When he died he left farm to his sons and said the money was under their big oak tree out front under the big swing was kind of big family joke. They said they would pay me 100 dollars just to try.Took all my treasure hunting gear including fisher twin box locator which I used to find utility vaults, metal caskets, fuel oil tanks etc.Walked over under huge oak tree got a good signal were area of old swing was.Took probe out hit solid object at 6 feet. They went and got back hoe at other farm dug up 2 large milk cans took into garage told me to stay outside.Came out of garage with big smiles and payed me 100 dollars like they said they would in 10 dollar gold pieces.Took coins to coin dealer next day got 6100 dollars walked 2 blocks to car dealer bought new Chevy Silverado 4x4 for 16000 thousand with 3 year payments treasure hunting is very expensive but I really did love that truck had it for 14 years.

OMG
Im a mother and we love our children but if your son is a grown up you need to confront him about the "lost gold coin"
It may be an explanation that you can acccept and begin to heal and if it as you think, he needs to know the hurt and then the healing starts
best of luck

Great read Prep!!!! Thanks for typing out the story. I sure could visualize you searching.

STUNNING
what a story!
The last request I had to find something with my detector was yesterday when I received a request
to find a leaking copper pipe under a heated floor.
Not quite the same impact as your story.

Wow, Prep! You should make that in to a Hollywood Blockbuster!

I have found:
