Back from England with some finds

I was in England detecting and had lots of sunshine
I have some stories but this post is for some finds
I will be posting more pictures but for now i have these available for viewing
There are coins from King George I, II, and III all in the 1700's and a token from the 1600's
The oldest coins found except for the Romans was a 1640's English Civil War farthing and a Elizabeth 1 1560's silver hammered
The item with the bulls eye is Bronze and can be Roman or Celtic and is being identified by the local museum
It is likely over 1000 years old and I'll keep you all informed but I understand it will be many months before I know

It was a structured paid program in St Albans

There is NO DETECTING PUBLIC PROPERTY!!!!

All detecting on public property was banned either in the 70's or there abouts

All detecting is done on private farmers fields during a small window in Fall and a small window in Spring
when the fields are plowed

There are contracts with the farmers and also payments, if a good find is found then the landowner will get 50% of value

If you want to detect, you must belong to a club(s) and weekend digs are arranged for the club members
These properties are arranged and acquired the same way as above

Otherwise, the program manager arranges property on his own and uses the property for his program or individual enjoyment

The history in England is amazing, detecting there is like being an archaeologist because the items found can go back to the bronze age

Many museum items appear to be dug and are attributed to being found by detectorists

I have other finds and will show more items in the next few days but I can tell you my first coin was early 1700's and I was thrilled!

(especially to nondetectorists who ask me "Why England")

Lovely finds! They say coating brass finds in Vaseline is the best idea. Any other ideas? Things come out very dried and I don't think the fertiliser helps

Since you have the knowledge and experience and live and detect in England
I was told to just brush the coins with a toothbrush and NEVER use water, right?!

Agreed. Water has chemicals in it that will rot brass. Some people soak their finds in olive oil. I don't know which is correct. If the green on the find is kind of still alive, I put it in lemon juice for a minute to kill off the bacteria. I suppose the idea of using a kind of oil is to get good moisture back into the find. There are many vids on youtube on the subject. My suggestions maybe incorrect
