BBS 800 Coil Wiring?

bklein

Active member
I have a BBS 800 coil I want to wire to an Excalibur 2 and Sword but I see it has 5 wires instead of 4. Big red and black are TX. But what about the other 3?

O

PM Joe (ole beach nut) he can tell you.......or Mel Parker. Ron if Joe happens to post some of the wiring diagrams here..... would you mind moving them if you can to the Xcal sticky?

I bet it goes to a supply voltage (aaaaarrrghhh).
I’ve seen the circuits for the 4 wire coils where the preamp in the coil is powered by a fullwave diode bridge off the TX signal.

Red at the top, black second....green then orange..

blue n green are grounds...

this is a old diagram I made up years ago, I'm setting here looking at the swords wiring...may have to test that one again...getting old fast.

Not sure what the try this first, then this second , is all about....must have been helping someone.

On my Sword pub, ground1, ground2, and RXB are all tied together by the ground layer/trace on the board.
I haven't yet tried the bbs800 on it.

Yes if you hold the board under a light you can see those traces all connect. And that is the best way if someone should waste one of the eyelets to trace out another location to solder the coil wires.
