Beach Hunting at Night?

It is my favourite type of hunt, but some guys aren't good with the night shift. I mostly like the solitude, serenity, the cool summer air, you can really get into the zone. Before you know it, 6-8hrs flew by and you have a pocket full of coins for your breakfast.
It's something to watching the dawn rise from the east and the look of the earlybird's faces as they realize they aren't the first. Use one of those red led headlamps as it will not ruin your night vision.
This is an old military trick. Try night hunting you'll like it.:sleepy: nighty, night.

Check out my last Video at Virigina beach.. Night hunting there was enough light from the Hotels to hunt without a Lamp, But on up the coast in OC it was as dark as it gets. I just use a Petzl caving HeadLamp, glow stick tire wraped to the underside of my coil, Lifejacket, and a old flare gun for safety. Never had a problem with anyone or anything. PF is right, nothing like seeing the change from night to day..good luck..Obn/Joe

I would imagine this weekend all will be out at all times just waiting to see what bill throws our way !!
I like to hunt at night as do a few others I know,
good luck

Same for me Thehawg, 90% my hunt is at 4 am to 7 am. It is a very good quiet feeling. You are connected 100% with your self and your hobby.
Each signal, sound, noise, lightning,wave... is amplifier

And the most important, any junk jewellery look 24K pure diamond in the bottom of the scoop with a LED light on it.

Here is a recant of what one of my night hunts was like, your mileage may vary!:

Hey PennyFinder,
We don't have skunks down here in Charleston (I don't think), but the other morning I got to the beach at about 30 minutes before sun rise. I waded in about hip deep, and I noticed that there were small sharks all around me; most about 2-3 feet. They were everywhere. I was very concerned about them. I hit one with my detector. I decided to move in to knee deep water. After sun up, they moved out.

I know this has been hashed out b4 but carrying a nice scoop or shovel affords a measure of protection and makes someone leery of trying to confront you. You have more weirdos and drunks out at night. I'm 5'9" at 235 so not many people tangle with me unless their psychotic. Decent Headlamps can be found at Walmart and such. Here is the one I use. It has the red light, varying degrees of intensity and is comfortable on my head.

It's more than suffice. You'd be surprised at how many people are on the beach when it's daRK OUT. Most of these people are normal and are pretty cool. :beers:

PS) I'm still waiting for the nymphomaniac who lost her ring and then I found it for her! heehee. I can almost taste it!!

My fantasy as a kid hitching around was to be picked by a Nymphomaniac driving a bear truck!!!! Back to night hunting, so much of it is common sense, in my area of water hunting , Mexico, you would not hunt at night.:drinking:

C'mon, guys a NYMPHO who lost a ring and then she is SO GRATEFUL .....

I was so worried but now I feel so good I wanna .....

I bet 8-9 guys outta 10 and I'm leaning towards 99.99999999 that most of you would fold like a nice set of cards.

Just so we are in unison I would probably be part of the .00000001 who would never violate his bond of trust & love!

Yeah Right!!! :beers:

I think there are few who would break that bond of trust and love, unless there was a chance the activities would not be 'detected.' :crylol: (Couldn't resist) Jim

Hold on there boys, steady as she goes!... Nymphos + Bondage = less detecting + less rings! Watch out now, ya gotta do the math!

I've been detecting for 30 years and luckily my detector doesn't know the difference between Day and Night Hours. Of course, I'm getting older and have C R S. I was at Folly Beach, S.C. about a year ago and pulled in one of the Parking space -South- toward the State Park and went detecting. It was so dark, I could not see my shadow and thought I might fall off the earth. Detected for about 3 hours and went to leave the beach. Guess what, could not locate my vehicle, came off the Beach about 100 yards too far North. Found some Guest at a House and they called the Folly Beach police for me. They found my Vehicle and then came back and picked me up to take me to my truck,. I thought it might have been towed if they had changed the night hours in the parking area. goldnugget-Charlotte,N.C.
