The wife and I just got back from 2 days of metal detecting metal detecting in Mineral County Nevada. I doubt this will apply to anybody,... but always keep this in mind. If you see the ground oozing green, yellow, red, and white substances..... you know you're in for a lot of trouble. Your metal detector will go Haywire. I doubt if I will ever go back to this region of Nevada again. The basic bottom line is.... if you see pretty colors coming out of the ground it's not a good place to metal detect.
 
Interesting subject. I’ve never seen “colors” per se listed in the HazMat manual we had on road patrol but now I need to go back and go thru that again.
 
My first thought was paint drop.....
