Big City again........

Lack of older stuff out here in Podunk forced me to suck it up and head into the Big City (which I just hate to do....lol). Started on a curb strip and noticed a guy acrossed the street mowing his curb strip? Thought I'd strike up some gentle conversation and be polite and ask him if he'd be ok with me hitting his curb strip? He offers up his 1890 corner house and tells me it's been hunted at least twice before that he's aware of and some 1800's coins came out. Ended up spending almost 5 hrs there and dug 46 more coins, 1 silver ring and a REAL COOL old ornate key! Gave the key and ring to the owners. As much as I hate going into the City....it usually turns up a few finds, both public & private........... Barber is a 1907-o (obverse is ruff so posted reverse)

Looks like it pays to hunt the big cities where you're at including the private. Like that Junior Fire Marshall badge in addition to the coins.

The big cities in my vicinity worth finding any oldies in are a few hrs. away. If thats not enough, the worse part, i'd need a platoon of armed US Marines as an escort to hunt those big city places especially these days.

Thanks guys!!!!!!

Yeah......I have a 4.5hr RT to get to the City but I've dug some really good stuff there in the past. Fortunately Montana is still pretty tame with friendly folks for the most part. There is one park there I rarely hunt....I call it "Needle Park"....homeless types there all the time and I caught a couple "firing up" there once. I could probably hunt it but the "creeps" make me nervous. I love watching the cop show "First 48" where they are always in some big city on the wrong side of town....I go absolutely nuts eyeballing the curb strips and old houses but like you said....you'd need an army for protection....lol ALMOST stayed in town but then thought about the extra $90 for motel/meals and headed back to Podunk. It was nice to get a couple older coins for a change.

I also had to brake for a bear crossing the hgwy on the way in and also brake for a herd of about 15-18 Bighorn sheep so they could get acrossed the hgwy, and also one deer slowed me down on the return.... Not too bad here...........yet.
