Big Silver Fun & Very Old Car Printing Block

floodplaindetector

Well-known member
I finally got my Hybrid SUV so I was able to open up my public site playbook a little more because of the outstanding MPG I am now getting.
Everything shown was found at public sites except for the 1964 silver dime. That was pulled at a real short farmhouse permission hunt in SW North Dakota close to my parent's farm.
All of the half dollars were pulled from different sites. The 1918 Walker was pulled in North Dakota, The 1967 Kennedy (40% silver) was pulled in South Dakota, and the 2 Franklin half dollars were pulled in Minnesota.
Every silver half was a tight signal that had nails in the same hole. The 1959 was masked the most and was not much of a signal at all. I was able to get just the slightest repeatable chirp on that one.
The old walking liberty I pulled yesterday was about a foot deep and had a bonus 1920 mercury dime in the same hole.

The Item with the very old car on it is an old printing block. A big thanks to Elmy for IDing that one as my wife and I were racking our brains trying to figure out what it was since it is brass and not lead.
That printing block was way deep also. I believe the car to be in the teens.
Thanks for looking!
Dave

6 half's ---just the 4 silver ones make me drool..... half trifecta.......walker at a foot deep... just amazing .....
Thanks for giving us a look at your finds...Resting up for the fall farmed fields and hope to get one in with Stick and a pie pan.

Once again, some very nice finds. Your skill & dedication shows. The printing block is the kind used for printing stationary. That is why it is made of brass alloy, it was used over & over again as needed in a much lower stress process than a high speed news press. Newspaper type was made of very hard lead-antimony alloy & intended to be very temporary then melted down & recast into something else.

Nice haul Dave with the silver halfs plus all of your finds. I think that one token with the big center hole used to have a penny in it at one time. Just love seeing finds like this.

WoW
That's more than I find in a good year.
Incredible work.
Thanks for showing.

Great finds Dave! I agree with Rick(ND) that the token is an encased cent piece. The advertising block is really cool as well as the comb advertising piece. The silver...well, that just speaks for itself and your skill with the Etrac. Congrats on another great run.

Congratulations Dave!!

Look 👀 at all the silver… Big silver too!! 😮😮 This is what dreams are made of!! At least mine are anyway lol.

Thats incredible finds in anyones book. At what point do you just lay down and a take a nap?😂. I suppose if I found two big silvers I’d be awake for 24/7 for awhile!! Good job.

That is quite the display you have there…. Amazing at the amount of silver coins and big silver you are still finding at Public sites!
The other items are neat also!
I found an old print plate some years ago and it was made out of the same material as yours and it has two comic characters on it.
These finds keep us all motivated!!!

Thanks Elmy! sounds fun with the field hunt. I have hunted a few turn of the century field sites in SW North Dakota but I am sure yours are at least 50 years older.

Thanks and I appreciate the additional info about the printing block!

thanks Rick, Appreciate it!
Yep, you are right on the money with that token. That flour token was designed to hold a wheat penny.
My brother remarked how it was kind of neat I found that 70th Anniversary token on the 140th anniversary of the company (1882-2022).
I pulled it in a city park about 25 miles from your house.

Thanks Mike! Yes, at first I didnt think too much of the bent up metal comb but later seeing it had advertising on it made it kind of cool. Its gotta have a little age to it.

Thanks Ted. No, I haven't used the 12x15 coil once this year as my arms and back can't prolonged swinging with that one.
I am too stubborn to wear a detecting harness as I always feel like it disrupts the flow of my swing just a little.
Yes, the ground is like cement in places. It has been a dry 2nd part of the year.
Nice job Dave! The ground here is pretty hard. And no rain in sight! Still have the big coil on the e-trac?
