it was a gorgeous 46 degrees out, and a perfect day to fall down in the woods ....so i went out looking for six old foundations; i found them before but i could only locate one of them this time. after a few spills in the mud, i gave up on finding the rest and went back to the first one. i set the coil on the ground, pressed the power button, and stretched my pro golds around my head....just in time to hear them scream in my ears. seems something was already under my coil. 1-47 4-48 at 2 inches, had "beer can at 10 inches" goin through my mind. since i was already having a wunderful day, i figured id dig it up. turns out to be this big old lump of silver at 2 inches. i hunted for another 2 hours but no more luck. this happens to be my first franklin half. -mike

What a sweet find and right under the coil when you turned it on! Congrats. Great find.

There's no doubting that one's your Mike! Great story and awesome find...congratulations and thanks for the picture.

Nice. Did you try turning off ur detector and taking off ur headphones, and moving the coil over a couple of feet and restarting to see if you have discovered a new technique. Lol....
Just curious I have a franklin half and it hits the same number. Wonder why it hits so far up on the FE line???

Seems like you don't see many Franklin Halfs come out of the ground - Real nice find !

Very nice find Mike, a half is on my list for this year. Thanks for the picture and inspiration. -- Randy

They are kinda scarce and rarely posted.Posting yours reminded me that I only remember finding one in the past several years.20 to 30 years ago they were common but being so big and shallow most were recovered at public sites many years ago.

hi everyone and thanks for looking. i know that its not the best find in the forum....but i worked really hard to get to where it was, so i guess im kinda proud of it. it was so dang slick up that hollow i might as well have scooted all the way there on my a$$. ha! -mike

Fantastic! Nice recovery... I love it when the first signal of the day isn't trash! Sounds like you earned it too LOL

I can relate, Its like turning on my Saturday morning and my wife screaming in my ear. Just kidding, great find!!

Congratulations! That's a nice find with your coil landing on it.

Very Cool! I remember getting those from my Grandparents on Birthdays and such. Man I wish I still had them now.

On my EX II, silver halves come in on the screen Far Right about 10 lines down from top along the side. While Merc's, quarters, Rosey's and silver war nickels, all lock in far upper right. I don't know why this is, maybe it has to do with alloy mixture.......NGE
