Coal mine find.

Hello everyone I was out metal detecting in Virginia by a old coal mine. I'm trying to find some information on this piece I found. I have Google searched and went by the local museum with no luck. Any information would greatly appreciated.

If the blob item on the end is a counter weight is looks a lot like a what we had on old sheet metal breaks that would bend flat metal.

That shaft is bent in the exact same shape as one we had. The counter weights would put zero gravity on the heavy blade. You would push the counter weight to form a bend in the flat metal.

The 8 or 10 foot breaks we had had one of these on each end but the shaft was a solid 1" steel bar with the weight on the end. It was like a cast iron ball with one bolt to hold it in place.

Yours seems smaller - maybe from a 4 foot break

My best guess on what I see in the Photos
