Hey guys, I have been following this forum for a few weeks and I love it! Thank you all for your input, your love for the hobby, and your love for Garrett products! My question is about coil height. I have read in Garrett's books and on this forum to keep the coil 1-2 inches off the ground while detecting. I have never done this. I have always kept mine touching the grass as I go. I have always believed in my mind that I would be loosing depth if I held it higher. So my question is, what is the purpose if keeping it off the ground so high? And what are the negative aspects of keeping it on the ground? Thank you in advance for your responses!
