am asking for honest opinions on if you think that there is an advantage of going with the Etrac over and SE PRO if someone had zero experience with minelabs, IE no relearning new VDI numbers. I want to get a minelab and here great things on both detectors but not any comparisons on reviews. All the posted literature makes sure it states that the Etrac was not designed to replace the Explorers. I am posting this in both forums Etrac and Explorers so i get both sides of the coin LOL

"Bryce" from the Explorer Forum would be a real good person to ask.
He's the Moderator of the Explorer Forum and the owns both of these machines.

Good Luck !

I owned an SE with ProCoil before trading it toward a new E-trac. I am finding more now than I ever found with my SE. I think the E-trac is easier to use and interpret.

Thanks for the hands on opinion Duke i was just wondering if it is worth saving up the extra 400

In my personal experience, it's worth saving up the balance for.

Still have my SE, and agree that the E-Trac is easier to use and interpret, but I strongly believe both will find the same targets. If you're on a budget, the SE is a bargain.

I have had I had 2- Ex-1's. I still have 2- Ex-2's. 1 SE and 1 E-Trac. The Ex-2 goes deeper than the new detectors. I have tested this many many times using different machines on the same deep target. The
Ex-2 just picks up deep targets better. The SE gets closer with the SunRay 12 inch coil. The E-Trac gets closer to the E-2 with that coil also. The real value with the E-Trac is the overwhelming information presented on the screen. You get Depth, Ferrous, Conductive and 2D icon. With all of this information and lots of practice, you will do better than with the other machines. Do your research on spots and when you get there, go slow.
