Even when FT comes out with your dream deep silver machine... you will likely keep the E-TRAC and I am a dedicated Fisher/Teknetics customer. I have an F75 LTD, a T2, an Omega-8000 and plan on getting a G2 as soon as I can... and I had an original F75, I only sold it because a friend of mine loved it so much I couldn't deny him... he still loves it... BUT... the E-TRAC is, besides being an easy to learn all-around machine, a specialty detector. It will unmask good targets like nothing I have ever seen if you understand it's strength and use it and NEVER try to make it be an Explorer.
The G2 may change everything though... time will tell. Some say the T2 is a better coin machine than the F75... I ain't sure.
I do have something you can try. Try the F75 LTD in disc=0, tone=1 and the sensitivity so that it has minimal falsing, unless you are used to the falsing... then max it. Or you can use BP in AM mode... especially with the 5" coil.. it is very quiet with max sens and 0 disc using the 5" coil... and deep too.
The E-TRACs strength is its ability to pull out masked targets by giving a peep from one direction along with a correct conductive number... some people have been finding that the F75 LTD unmasks well in iron with the disc=0 and by noting the TID of the common iron at a site, then watching for numbers still in the iron range but above or below the range of the common iron but you must use 1-tone or the F75 will default to disc=15 because all other tone settings will give an iron grunt on 15 and below. It is worth a try and should be fun. I am going out to try it at a couple of places this PM or tomorrow. One I have personally "hunted out"... but I still find stuff if I look hard enough, the other place is a park built on a CW era RR depot. I am going to try the T2, F75 LTD, and the Omega with the 10" coil, i've only used the 11" on it so far... but I am going to especially work the iron range after getting a good idea of where the common iron (mostly cut square nails at the one site) read. Goin to dig everything above or below that range. I got this confirmed and refined by someone (Critterhunter I think) that he actually found, at one particular site, that the most non-ferrous signals recovered this way were below the TID of the common iron. IIRC he said that most of the iron read between 7 and 10, non-ferrous was being dug at 11-15 and 1 to 6... with more coming from 1-6. I may be off by a number or two but you get the idea. 2F is good but not on masked targets... this may help, I don't know but I am goingto try it.
FWIW, Elton is a firm believer that the T2 is a better coin huner than the F75.
Heck, you probably already know all this... (I forgot who I was talking to) maybe it will benefit someone else though!
If you get that ET... forget conductive/multi and try ferrous/2-tone. I'll try to uploada copy or Jason's relic pattern. I use it on both conductive and ferrous sounds. The ET will perform better with some disc, an open screen will not unmask targets. IT will find targets but not masked targets because the iron will be prominant with no disc... but you don't need much.... and the conductive number never lies on the ET.
Still, I am pretty sure that my "go to" detectors for this coming season will be the O8K and G2 and sometimes the LTD. I really want to try a T2 LTD even though BP only works in 2+.. it crosses over and works in AM and AM is quieter on an LTD especially with the 5" coil.
I LOVE detectors!!! there is always something new to learn about them... even the ones you know like the back of your hand.
