DC phase is simply very slow variable retune threshold based all metal, almost like pinpoint mode on some detectors like the T2 or F75 or more like the static all metal on the F75. It can be used at the same time as the disc mode and gives a good indication of target size by the length of the signal. For instance, a very wide all metal signal with a short high tone is probably a crown cap while a shorter am signal with the same disc tone is probably a coin. It will also pick up deeper signals than the disc mode to let you know something is there.
