Do You Like To Hunt Alone, Or With Friends:shrug:

I usually like to hunt alone. No time restrictions, no competition and no distractions. But I do like to hunt with another person occasionally.

Hi John,

I also do both, sometimes hunting with a friend or two and also with a club once a month.
The social side of having some company is enjoyable ...and comparing finds.
Being a newcomer, I have learned a real lot from club members and others willing to teach me.

However, having said all that, my best finds have been made when alone.
Maybe I concentrate better ?? ...not sure why.

I have to say I have hunted more alone than with someone. Sometimes when I get the urge to hunt I just jump in the car and go. I enjoy my time alone. But for a woman I think it is safer to hunt with a partner. Since my husband doesn't hunt, I have usually hunted alone because when I first got into the hobby most of my friends were men and I am not sure if they were intimidated by me or what the problem was but it was hard to find many hunting partners. ( I think they just didn't want to be showed up by a woman...hee hee!) But the longer I have been in the hobby I now prefer to hunt with someone. It does slow you down but it is so fun to share in the excitement when you dig something good or help your friend check a target that they are getting an odd reading and want your opinion on weather to dig or not. When hunting out in secluded areas I think it is safer for everyone to hunt with a partner.
I have to say that these days I prefer to detect with a friend.

I hunt alone a lot, but, my brother in law hunts with me on occassion and I really enjoy his company. I agree with jewlery girl, I feel safer in numbers.:garrett:

I'll often go on a short hunt alone, but more often go with a buddy who got hooked on detecting last year. Since we each know different areas up here, it results in more places to go. Plus he'll usually drive, which makes it a lot easier on me.

By reason of going out on the spur of the moment to go for a hunt, I almost always hunt alone. I joined a newish Aussie detecting forum recently, with many of these guys based in Sydney. Although keen to hook up with them, if I didn't pre-arrange my hunt with werewolf, we simply wouldn't have gotten together. Even though these guys were organising night hunts (beaches) there wasn't a single night that there wasn't a family thing going on, so I couldn't hook up with them.
I really do enjoy hunting with others, but also enjoy hunting alone.(Don't have to share the site.:detecting::lol:)

I like to take the dogs along. Wife and/or son comes along once in awhile. Then once in awhile, a friend, or neighbor kid or two if going to a park as kids like some of the park stuff. Then with another detectorist now and then.

I agree with you, John. I'm the same, but I do enjoy hunting with my brother.

ive hunted alone, but id rather be around others,i think its a bit more interesting..ive meet many new friends hunting at the beach and enjoy each time i run into them..has many many rewards..:clapping::detecting::garrett::minelab::detecting::thumbup:

I usually hunt alone but would rather go out with someone! When I watch the videos it's looks like the people that hunt together look like they have alot more fun!!

I love having someone around. I only have one problem-finding someone who's willing to stay the 3-5 hours that I like to spend. Before I went to work for Wally World, it was sometimes 6-8 hrs. at a time.

I generally hunt alone. That way I don't have to share the goodies. HAA. Course when my wife was able she was my constant hunting partner and after she was unable to do it anymore my friend ( now in Montana ) and work partner was my hunting partner but I'm usually a lone wolf.

Yeah you need someone who is really into it to spend that kind of time. I used to go all day long but my hunts are shorter now. Course I don't like to leave my wife alone for to many hours.

Bill

Alone for the most part... Altho I have been on a few
hunts with others... I like the quiet and i seem to
be more thorough when i hunt alone..

Have Happy Safe Fun Hunts

Know what you mean. We have a system worked where she goes shopping for about 3 hrs and calls me on the cell whenever she's done. (She's spending while I'm finding:sadwalk:) Then we have lunch together. It's my only option.:clapping:

Back in the day, I hunted many times alone, but I also hunted alot with Army buddies and other hobbyists as well. These days, for the past few years, my wife and I always hunt together. My health has declined these last few years and she keeps an eye on me/takes care of me while we're out swingin'. She even drags me out to go metal detecting alot of the time. It keeps my blood flowin' and fresh air, shunshine, etc.
When we go nugget shootin', she'll just follow me around with the pick/rockhammer and keep an eye out for critters, 'cause I'll have my headphones on listenin' for them whispers. She's more of a rockhound than me. I've always been more of a metalhead:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

You think like I do.. I have enough to worry about without someone else grabbing
my goodies before I can get to them. :argue:
