DrBob & I did another all day road trip in a snow storm.I rescued some small silver,2 big standing ladies and 2 larger walking ladies from the element

We had a great time as usual even with the blowing snow and wind chill in the teens at times.Decided to hunt a little closer to home base with the weather and hit a couple of ball parks we had hunted before.Never dreamed we would find as much as we did but the soil was very wet and we were digging dimes at 9" plus and the 2 Walkers were over 12".The soil was much dryer the times we hunted these sites in the past and I guess we just were not getting deep enough to reach the silver.
Bob and I were talking about our low expectations for the day on the road and boy did we call the hunt wrong.Bob absolutely smashed his all time daily silver record and left me in the dust/snow with his sheer number of silver coins but I surpassed him in the size of coins found.I also found a couple of crusty Indians that I always welcome with a big smile.It has been a long time sense I dug a nice dated SLQ and must say it was my most exciting dig of the day and was over 10" deep.
I am sure Bob will tell and show us his rewards for braving the elements when he gets time and his sore aching body recovers from all that digging :stretcher:
 
That was such a fun day Ray. I'm still smiling.

The amount of large silver you pulled out in just a few hours was just plain awesome. I don't think I've ever seen you grin like that on any of our past hunts.

Congrats, you definitely are the E-trac king!
 
Unbelievable! Even back in the 1970's I didn't get that much silver in one day. Love the Standing Liberty quarters, even 40 years ago they were hard to find.
 
That was a dream day for sure,to find that much silver in one day is truly awesome!
I can see why you braved the elements.:)
That will be a day to remember for a long time to come.

They are very few and far between for me and an early one with a date even more rare.The 1919d I found looks to be worth around $250.00-$300.00 judging from recent Ebay sales but finding it while with a good friend was priceless,Ray.
 
WOW! what a day, congratulations, that 1919 SLQ is in great shape you don't see them like that very often.

and I would ssay it grades a Fine+.........some may even say VF, but that might be pushing it..........probably a $200 coin Ray..........WTG!!!

WOW. I hunted for about 4 hours today. After looking at the pictures of all that silver in your post I decided to take my paltry finds and just toss them out into the back yard!! LOL. Seriously, though, that is an awesome collection of finds. Congratulations!! I would be elated to find any one of those on my hunts, much less the whole group. Hope your future hunts turn out as well.

That place has definitely been hit, if not there would be plenty of clad coins at the 0 to 5 inch range since it is a still active site. We got almost no signals at those depths except for some pull-tab signals, the clad had mostly been picked clean. But at the deepest depths.....well it was Wonderland:detecting:
 
Good to know chivalry is not dead! Very kind of you guys to rescue those lovely ladies from the elements. Pretty nice of you to save a few guys too! :clapping:
