I wanted to share some photos of the mods/accessories that i have added to my E-Trac. The X1 mod details were provided by a fellow member Shayne & the rest of the items were purchased off of eBay. If you have any questions ask away or PM me. Thanks for looking.

Hope you like what I have done.

PS: Anti glare sheet from NuShield called DayVue on the way..should cure the screen issue... then I am done! lol

For all of those interested in the NuShield DayVue I will post a review when i get it. I will test it in direct sunlight like they show on there web site. If what they show is true then they have the best product out there.

Hi Digmeahole, where did you find the rain cover with the minelab logo? I have one of the neoprene cuffs and really like it, although it does have a tendency to slip off.
Also how hard is it to change your coils with the mod to the shaft?

Hi, The rain cover came with the detector from Richard at backwoodsmetaldetectors.com.. But I think he also sells them separately.... I just cut out the hole for the usb port as the cover is a real bitch to get off and on. Did you put the Velcro on the inside of the arm rest cover? should not slip.... The mod took a couple of hours.. Just cut out a hole the size of the coil tip and make sure you smooth doen the edges so it wont fray the coil wire. It cuts like butter you can start it with a drill bit and then use small metal cutters or just grind away. That is my favorite mod as i could not stand the way it looked with the coil wire outside. Then if you get the X! cover its sealed off from the weather and your all set.

I almost ordered that product a few weeks ago. I am SO glad you are testing it out. If that thing has any improvement I will definitely be ordering one!

Hey Dig can you shoot a better picture of the Probe set up please..

I got the NuShield DayVue & the install was simple enough. Better off leaving a little bit bigger then the E-Trac screen as the corners of the screen are slightly rounded and very hard to match when trimming.

I cant post real results yet as it's been cloudy all freaking day here in NY. One thing I did do lol is take the brightest flashlight i could find and shined it onto the screen before and after the install and it did help with that test. I can read entire screen with no glare with flashlight test but hopefully the sun will come out soon...

I will post again....Tell you one thing not cheap for two small pieces of plastic!

digmeahole,

I have one of those non-reflective screens on order, but I will try to install it on my
dust/rain hood cover using just the center portion where the LCD display is.
That way I can still press the buttons using the flexibility of the hood cover plastic.

It may tend to want to come off as we are always touching the cover and its the LCD that produces the glare... It comes with two so either way you cant lose. Let me know how is works out on the cover instead of the screen....Of course there is no sun on the day i get it! I remember the first time i went detecting with this machine and the sun was at my back i could not se a thing and i have better the 20/20 vision. I am still a noob so i like to see all the info i can while hunting.

Ok I am going to test the day view cover this afternoon. Sorry for the delay nut its been raining on and off here for what seems like weeks. But the sun is out today! yay!

I installed the DayVue non-glare screen on my rain/dust hood cover and it didn't make any difference.
The glare was still present.
It might make a difference if you apply this directly on the LCD screen, but then you would still have
no protection from rain and dust.
That's only my viewpoint.

I bought one of those Sunray box covers. It's nice but it fit a little too big. Couldn't keep the toggle switch in the hole. I shortened the width by an inch or two.

NuShield DayVue...... 1 WORD.... WOW! I applied it directly to the lcd as you should, then I put the cover back on and took it out side in full sun glare coming straight behind me and I am stunned. Close to 95% of the glare is gone and i can read everything!!!! Even the little symbols in full sun!!! There pictures on there web site are no bs. This is the best accessory I have ever purchased for my E-Trac! :clapping: They have my vote of confidence! I bet i could actually video the screen in broad daylight!!!
