E-TRAC ON ITS WAY!!!!

Well I'm sorry to say....everyone lies....I feel so bad about it that when your E-Trac gets there...don't even unpack it just put my name and address on it send it along and I will get a check out to you for $200 for at least partial compensation for all those people that led you astray!

Just kidding of course I think you will really like it, just take your time use the standard programs at first and you will be digging keepers in no time!

Welcome to the E-trac forum. You have a lot to be looking forward to as you've stepped in the realm of the E-trac.

Are you new to detecting in general? or just to the E-trac?

There are lots of people here to answer questions that will arise as you begin using your E-trac. Many questions are common and you may find answers ahead of time by reviewing through previous posts on the forum. You can also 'SEARCH' for specific things you are interested in learning more about and find references going back a year or more.

You may read about references to a book by Andy Sabisch called 'The Minelab Explorer and E-trac Handbook'. I find the book to be very helpful in learning the capabilities of my E-trac and would recommend it as an excellent reference.

good luck.

Hey, thanks guys! I've used some of the old White's with my father years ago, but technically I am a newb all the way... :super:

I am def going to check out that book and I will prob be asking way too many questions here in no time... the salesman said it should be arriving here tomorrow. Thanks for the welcome! Hope to see you around.

You will find it to be the best money you ever spent

I have usually found that expectations are always better than actual results.

Except when it came to the E-trac. It was way better than I ever thought it could be.

you are in for so much fun i do smile when the signals come through on ground that has been hunted for years i am enjoying metal detecting for the first time as my other detector used to bore me etrac rocks there is no doubt about that i enjoy using ferrous 2 tone as you dig the high tones but hey i wont get too compicated before you have unpacked it the guys on here will answer your queries so read and then ask good luck and happy hunting

Sorry about the joke certain members of this forum may have pulled on you - the E-Trac is actually - a complete failure !
It's very heavy - you can't read the target ID numbers on on a sunny day - and your odds of finding anything with it (except for a few zinc pennies here and there) ... are not that good !

Good Luck with your new machine !

damn thanks for the info... just called in before it was too late and swapped for a v3i.

just kidding

Just be sure to give yourself lots of time to learn it. If you have been using another machine for a while, DO NOT go back to it. When I first got my E-Trac, it was completely different from my old Whites that I was very frustrated and just wanted to go back to using what I knew. I forced myself to keep using the machine though, and so should you.

Here is what I tell all new E-Trac owners.
1. Get the Andy Sabich E-Trac book. Read everything in it about the E-Trac (it has explorer info too)
2. Read the owners manual.
3. repeat steps 1 and 2 several times BEFORE using your machine
4. now go out an spend a few hour using your E-Trac in a pre-set mode. dont start making changes yet.
5. go back and read the books again. Now, things you read should start making more sense from actual use.
6. now, go spend lots of time swinging the coil. Dig everything that beeps. Take a notebook. Record FE-Co numbers of your targets and soon your will know your machine like the back of your hand.

last tip: The E-Trac will work with almost zero movement. When you get a signal, move it VERY slowly back and forth. If it goes into null only, it's iron junk. If it beeps at all, dig. You will still get fooled by nails and others, but you could also find coins mixed with iron.

Should be here today then!!! Hope you enjoy the machine and thanks for filling us in. Looking forward to the finds! Set you attitude. When I got mine, about a year ago, I had 3 months to just sit and look at my machine and also play around in the house. Ground was froze solid. So I took a lot of time to think about my detecting "attitude". I "set my jaw" into learning my machine. Meaning no matter what I was going to swing and get a lot of hours per week on my machine. Diggin' a lot of stuff the first 2 weeks was a great experience for me and after the whole summer and fall it just kept getting better. I hope have an enjoyable experience.

Congrats of your new detector. I can tell you first hand...............I hope you don't live near me...... I don't need any more people with Etrac's in my area! Just like everyone has said, take the time to learn the machine and it will bring many smiles and "hell Ya's"

Enjoy and good luck to you in 2011

V3i You should be ashamed of yourself. The bobber was down and the hook set before I saw the Just Kiddin at the bottom. Why I was gettin ready to chew someone a** for leading you astray. But in all honesty over the last 30 some years.I have used most of the detectors out there. And there were and are some good ones.BUT The Etrac in the short time that I have used it.It has made land hunting fun again. Now I'm talking about parks and schools that have been hunted for years that are once again giveing up good finds.Just remember if you get frustrated in the begining ,and you will.So has everyone else here to some extent.Try things out ,what you don't understand,Ask here or on the etrac classroom forum. And when things start to click you'll know the excitement that we feel.I Truly feel that with the price of silver and gold being where it is.It won't take long to pay for this detector. There's alot of good people here. And while they may kid ya alittle they speak the truth about this detector and there passion for detecting. Grumpy ps. Don't worry the silver is out there just waiting for you to pick it up.
