E-trac weight?

HaroldILL.

Active member
I know the E-trac is better balanced than the previous explorer's, But as far as just dead weight with the same coil do they weight more or less than a explorer? I know the screen is bigger so I figured it weighed more,But was better balanced. Thanks for all reply's.

According to the Kellyco website the Explore Se Pro weighs 4.0 lbs. and the E-Trac is 4.8 lbs. I have been thinking about an E-Trac as well but the weight is a concern for me because of bad shoulders. I really would like to try one though.

I think the machine is well balanced, and I don't notice the weight. There is also Doc's swingy thing to offset the weight if you have an issue with that.

The C/G makes a Big Differents the E-Track has a better C/G, I used to have a SE and it hurt my wrist just holding it , If you Look I learned this the hard way,
You see Minelad changed the angle of the handel on the E-Track more Like Whites its more of a 90% to the wrist and i can hold it for a longer time with no fatege,
The SE is Like a S rod and it bends the wrist, If you have a friend with a E-Track youl see what im talking about, Mickfin

Harold did you see what i was talking about??? Its not so mutch the weight, Its how well the unit is balanced and the angle of the wrist, Mickfin

Actually I have owned an E-trac since they came out. But I have never owned an explorer . I was just curious if their was that much of a difference if I ever picked one up as a second machine. I also have a bad shoulder and last year I purchased a sunray x-8 coil and boy what a difference that made. The stock pro coil I could swing maybe 4 hours and that was it,But the x-8 I can swing just about all day with no problem's at all! And the depth is almost the same. I use the x-8 about 90% of the time now.

Harold---I don't remember just what the weight difference is on those two machines.---I did a weight comparison on them & posted it when the Etrac first came out but can't locate it in my records right now.---It's in some of the earlier posts here when we were discussing it.---Although the Etrac has the appearance of being heavier with it's larger screen & thicker (deeper) control box---the main thing that has "just done wonders" (IMHO) for the Etrac over past Explorers in the balance is that 15 degree change on the handle.------Of those 2 coils you mentioned, the 11" Pro weighs 19 oz. & the Sunray X-8 16 oz.---a 3 oz. difference.---And yes, you are right, it DOES make a difference.---Anybody that thinks that's "peanuts" has never done a long hunt with 3 extra oz. hanging off the end of that stick.----Here's a pretty good example--I have a 10X12 SEF coil that I use on my Etrac (on occasion).---I did a long hunt with it & towards the end of the hunt, I got tired of swinging the thing so I took the coil cover off & kept hunting.----You talk about difference!---Man, at that point it was almost like starting afresh on a hunt!----I later weighed the SEF coil cover & it weighs 3 oz.---Does that 3 ounces sound familiar? -----Needless to say, that SEF doesn't have a coil cover on anymore!---and no, it's not going to wear out the bottom of the coil.-------Coil cover or no (weight and wear)---that's a whole "nuther subject" for a "nuther time" :) ----------Del

Right on Harold , I Like the 90 on the E-Track, You have more Mussel control and i can sweng it Longer, Mickfin Be Cool,

I had a Safari for a while - it really pulled my shoulder out - I had to take a short break every hour or so.
Even though the E-Trac's approx. 8 oz. heavier than the Safari - I can swing it for several hours straight - no problem.
The 15 degree grip angle change on the E-Trac makes a huge difference !

Good Luck ! --- Mark
