E-Trak Easy?? No its Not!!

Waterbird, I have a Safari and it is a turn on and go machine. The only thing you need to learn are the tones. I got the machine in May and I came home with silver 98% percent of the time. It is a great machine but I am ready to move to the E-Trac...that being said how about a trade. You want a simpler machine and I want a E-Trac. Let me know.

I think you're right, bcoop. The timing of the listing is right and the auction guy is from Huntington Beach Ca, which is logical for a guy who uses the handle waterbird.

I'll tell ya what, assuming it's the same guy, I will give him credit for honesty and saying straight up in his listing why he's selling it - "it's too complicated for me...didn't have a clue...just don't have enough desire for this hobby", etc.

His listing also says he was new to the hobby and has used the E-Trac less than a hour. I guess not enough coins and jewelry jumped out of the ground during that hour!:crylol:

Bill Revis aka "Uncle Willy" who moderates the Garrett forum is a wise longtime detecting veteran and Garrett guru who regularly says the biggest mistake newbies make is buying too much machine to start out with. The truth of that statement plays out all the time on these forums.

Fortunately for him, waterbird was smart enough to spell the detector correctly in his listing.

And maybe he's kind of like Peter Falk's character in Columbo - a lot smarter than we've been giving him credit for, since this thread has no doubt gotten a lot of people to look at his listing.

OK,it look's like I may have been sucked in and I gave the response that he was looking for. But maybe not,he could have been just spooked off,but to make a post like that with no follow up looks pretty suspicious, after all there were plenty of people here willing to help him. On that note I may have came across a little heavy handed to some of you but nobody knew at that time for sure if he is legite or not. So I apologize for the strong wording but not for the message I was trying to get across. Everyone is or was new at something and asked for help and some good constructive help is what we are after. Nuff said.

good hunting Gary

And frankly yours is sorry. After reading all your posts and not one of them asking for any help or advise I have drawn my own conclusions! Your post has ZERO value and is a waste of space on a very good forum with a great many good people who would have been more than happy to help you learn the E-Trac.As far as the weight goes,it is solid quality not some tinker toy.If you have physical limits that will not allow you to swing the E-Trac for an extended period that is a personal issue and not the fault of any machine.
All one has to do is search any number of Minelab forums for the quality and quantity of finds to see there is nothing foolish about using Minelabs. And your statement that the E-Trac is WAY overpriced is almost as big a joke as the rest of your post.
And I find it hard to believe you were completely honest when you chose to use the word "Sorry" twice in your juvenile post.
And for the record I am not a dealer or in any way connected to any detector company and use more than one brand of machine,Ray.

Glad you're joining us! Good luck with your new machine! One thing this thread did accomplish is getting a lot of good tips for a new user all together in one place. Sounds like you have the right attitude to be very successful with the power of the E-Trac. Looking forward to seeing your posts and finds with your new machine.
