early/mid 1600s French double tournois

Same field as the Fugio and probably about a foot from the hole where I found the Fugio and the Louis XVI. Thought it was a button and already filed it as such. Found out what is is from a response to a post on another forum. (That site is good for getting things identified but I tend to like the smaller, "family" feel here.

Here's all the finds from the 2nd hunt minus, I think, two pulltabs and a screw cap.

I would definnatly pattern and cross pattern the area. Then after it rains, I would hit it again.

...at least in the immediate area. One nice thing is that the center of where the coins were is two paces from where an old tree was removed so it's very easy to find the exact spot again.

That hunt--my second there--when I dug the double tournois I was purposefully digging signals I was pretty sure were nails (though that coin sang differently). Figured I'd both find out what the signals were and clear it out some for my next time through. I have it gridded in one direciton and tonight--if the rain holds off--will grid it at 90 degrees and will eventually grid it at 45 and 225 degrees. I plan on eventually digging out every signal I can get in that immediate area, including the **** hot rocks. (If I did it all at once, I suspect the turf would show damage.) I've never gridded/dug an area that extenstively before so it will be interesting to see what I learn in the process.

And just had a funny thought--if someone detects that spot later, I wonder how obvious it will be and if it will occur to them that it's been purposefully cleared out. ...'Cause there's going to be about a 15-20' area with next to nothing readable unless frost heaves and such bring something up.
