How do you change targets for example us coins or gold rings stuck on frenchys coins and cant get out?Rather be hunting than trying to solve programs but would love to use the program to see where gold rings are falling. The rain let up for five minutes and found a 1907 barber quarter yesterday it was only 6-7 inches down but might have been on its side escaping other detectors.

i didnt know you could change the targets but someone might come on and tell you otherwise there some clever guys on here anyway the main thing about the emulator is not about what you find but getting used to the different buttons and being able to change for different conditions when out hunting WELL thats my take on it if you want to see ids for gold ect and learn a few i am sure there is still id charts on the top of this forum to click on to happy hunting i hope it stops raining soooon

Once you open the emulator click on files at the top then target zip files choose the one you want!
assuming you have other files.

Thats a problem dont have other files besides 00_Etrac_french_coins.zip the question remains how do I get other files Im not a good computer man just enough to be dangerous but with a little help from my friends on this forum might be able to accomplish task. thanks guys. Cedarswamp

Sroll down to Minelab E Trac emulator files.

http://www.thebeepgoeson.com/display.asp?page=E-Trac_Emulator_ZIP

Do not extract them, just copy and paste the zip file to the place your emulator is in the datazips folder.
There will be a file probably in My computer,or computer on the newer windows versions.
C which is your hardrive, program files, look for a file like EtracEm-v1-en open it then look for a folder called Datazips, open it and paste the file here.
That's it your ready to go.

If someone figures out how to get this program, and the extra files, downloaded and working successfully....please let me know how you did it. I can get the emulater with the french coins downloaded but have been unsuccessful getting the additional files saved to where the emulater will access them. I save them to the file as LabradorBob instructed but then the files don't appear when I go to open them thru the emulator program. Wierd, guess maybe I'm just supposed to learn the old fashioned way....by digging one hole at a time....lol.

I don't think you can save them directly to the datazips folder.
Just save them to my documents,or somewhere else.
anyway, once you save them, right click on one and click copy.
Then find where the e trac program is installed, double click the folder
EtracEm-V1-en to open it,then double click the datazips folder to open it.
Right click on a blank white space here, and click paste.
Now go out and open the emulator.
Click file at the top l.h. corner, then move the cursor down to Target zip files.
it will show if it is there,if it is click on the new file and it will load it into the emulator.

Awesome LabradorBob, that worked perfectly. I can usually figure computer "stuff" out for myself if I try, but I just wasn't getting anywhere here. Do you know if there is a way to make the emulator portray deep coins and coins surrounded by trash? Or does it just give experience with clean coin hits?
Thanks again for your help.

The emulator just responds to the clean target hits.
No way to mix trash in.
It lets you get a reading and a sound for the target and you can change all the settings
to see how the response changes.

Thank you very much Bob.:super: I managed to do it and working great.
