Etrac/coil problem

Had my Etrac less than a year without any problems, I love it. But a weird thing happened today where my pro- coil just quit on me completely with out warning after two hours into the hunt. It would not pick up any metal. The SunRay probe still worked fine. I came home and threw on a 10x12 SEF coil I had with my Explorer and that worked. Should I feel confident that it is just a failed coil or should I suspect maybe that the detector is causing the coil to fail. It is still under warranty so I want to get it right. I will call Minelab in the morning. Anyone else run into this?

Remove the X-1 probe box and connect the coil directly to the E-Trac. If it works, you have a bad X-1 switch.

If it was the X1 switch, would it not affect the 10x12 SEF also?

Sounds like you have a bad coil. It would affect the 10x12 if it was the probe.

Sounds like a bad coil, if the 10 X 12 is working fine. I have a friend that also had a very similar problem with his Pro Coil, he found a hair line crack near where the cord enters. He thinks water may have gotten in there. Minelab replaced it and everything is fine, he didn't have a back up! Good luck.

Might want to check the connector for a loose wire too.

Call customer care # 888-949-6522. If you got a dealer close by have them send your Pro-Coil back and use whatever you have until you get the replacement.HH :minelab:

I "think" I seen on Minelabs sight something about they had some bad coils. You might want to check it out.

My coil is on its way back to Donners Grove for a check up, hoping for a good result. Thanks for everyones help
