And if that model is discontinued your staff will repair/replace it......[/size]

Sooo...now you got a moderator questioning a sponsor in a open forum?....Or is that because your a dealer too? Just curious? BTW: NED is a 1st rate company to do business with!
 
[size=large]Minelab has not trained any techs other than the ones that work for them.....So, I am looking for clarity in who is authorized in repairing these warrantied detectors and where they are going to get the repair parts since Minelab will NOT, I repeat Will NOT sell repair parts.

And if memory serves Minelab released a statement saying as I have stated. Minelab has no other authorized repair centers, and has not authorized anyone for warranty repairs in the USA.[/size]


I have added my signutre to this post so it is as a dealer and not moderator......And this is not Sour Grapes, Have had many queston in regaurds to this warranty issue. Maybe some will answer this...
 
Let's not put the dealer's head on the chopping block yet..... an explanation how the extended warranty works would resolve concerns. Like many car dealers, an extended warranty is usually funded through an escrow or insurance policy to insure compliance, with the manufacture doing the work. Steve?
 
If he offers a 5 year warranty and Minelab only offers a 3 year, I'm sure he'll cover the expense of any repairs for the remaining 2 years. Simple math to me.
 
[size=large]the only unfixable item i can think of is the memory chip. all else is the same electrical science. any good electician can figure out a mother board and such. so that just leaves the memory chip. and that can be said of any md. it's pretty obvious that NED is making an offer the others can't match or won't. if NED can't fullfill the warranty claim then there's laws to worry about. so far i see dealers attacking a dealer in an open forum.when my mi goes bonlers and it's still under who's ever warranty then all i want is it fixed. you dealers have facts as you know them but until you can prove that NED did not honor the warranty your best bet is to shut the hell up. jmho

I emailed Steve twice at new england detectors about some books and never got a reply. could have called but I figure he needs to be reading and responding to his emails as well.
Joes question is a good one and no need to get uptight about it, its a great offer new england is making but it sure would be nice to see how they plan on backing it up, get a llittle more specific.

So who do you want working on your Detector just anyone?
Wiring in a House ok, But your 5000.00 Minelab.......

I Know for a fact that Minelab electronics are proprietary. And they are not going to share board schematics.
 
Let me clarify to eliminate all the confusion. Here is how our warranty works pretty simple and straight forward. You get your standard 3 year warranty through Minelab Except Excall II which is 1 year with an extended 1 year equaling 2 years. Minelab does not want anyone working on their detectors during their warranty period. After Minelab's expires should OUR customers have trouble with their machine they can return it to us NEW ENGLAND DETECTORS U.S.A. for the remainder of the warranty as stated on all our MINELAB sales. Our two staffed engineers while not trained by MINELAB our extremely capable of fixing these detectors . We have enough parts on hand to replace defective ones with original Minelab products. Of course as mentioned the only part we cannot get to is the Firmware. This is a hardwired program that makes the detectors do what they do. There is a way but that would break international laws and copy written software. The chip although encrypted can be copied. Anyone dumb enough to do it would have a good time in court for many years. By the way Joe, this is actually old news our warranty we have had this for years as part of one of the many benefits of buying form New England Detectors. We take care of our customers like no other. We certainly set the trend since now Kelly Co now offers the same 5 year warranty as we do . I think Kelly Co may use a third party source for their repairs. I am lucky I have two engineers that work for me so I save a little money as appose to using a third party. Worse case scenario if I cannot get a part I will send it into Minelab for repair on my bill. Bottom line I offer a 5 YEAR warranty 3 years MINELAB 2 YEARS NEW ENGLAND DETECTORS. Worry FREE ownership of a MINELAB During the warranty period. I also offer the additional year on the Excall II. Giving that detector 2 years.

Well put !! I appreciate a man of integrity who goes above and beyond for customers. Rare in this day and age to have such values. I would have no qualms about having my minelab repaired by one of your techs/ engineers. You seem to have enough confidence in your employees, and reputation would be on the line as well. What more could we ask for? I don't really see any hidden agenda, it seems to be all out in the open B/W. You are just trying to provide a better service than most, thats what it takes to stay in business when there are so many other competitors. Ron
 
Thanks for the support Ron. This industry is extremely competitive amongst dealers, at time it gets pretty bad behind the scenes . Luckily , the public doesn't get to see all the time consuming drama that goes on behind the scenes. As a business we are constantly trying to reinvent ourselves to stay ahead of the competition. I have seen in this past year several dealers implement extended warranties and other practices we do every day and have done for years. Kellyco implemented the 5 year warranty after they saw we did it first. I use Kellyco as an example because of their notoriety and it actually happened. I think it is good they (K-CO)modeled after us it's good business and the consumer wins. I have always been bombarded with the question "If Minelab is such a good detector why don't they offer a 5 year warranty like Fisher ?" I thought good question. Maybe Minelab doesn't want to compete with itself , who knows. They may offer 5 years in the future. As a dealer I saw this as a great opportunity to give my customers peace of mind buying a high quality piece of equipment. I put my reputation, resources and money on the line to offer the extended warranty on Minelab. Minelab knows about our warranty and our guidelines as we discussed in great detail our policy. Offering the warranty gives the consumer the confidence in us as a dealer and the detectors we sell. We are also the only dealer to offer a 45 day return policy on detectors. There is no agenda with me I am not fueled by money . I am fueled by doing the right thing and making people happy, it's the biggest reward for me . Anyone who knows me or has dealt with me knows I am genuine.

Is the full five year warranty transferable to subsequent owners?-----Or is it just the three year Minelab portion of the warranty that's transferable? (Minelabs new policy of transferable warranties)
