Etrac replacement, what would you like to see?

Fire Fighter 43

I'm bored and I thought this would generate some good discussion.
What would you like to see in a new Minelab that would replace the Etrac?
Here is my list:
Waterproof
Wireless headphones (waterproof)
a pound lighter
Better balanced
A digital depth readout

Waterproof !!
Not good but a Great pair of wireless headphones !
An inline pinpointer .
Did I say WATERPROOF !!

I would like a screen that is a bit easier to see in the sun (Color would be nice ). Was waterproof already mentioned?

A wireless probe that worked in discriminate and wireless headphones would be awesome!

#1 a better way to see the screen the hot sun
#2 a way to block signals by the depth. If I want to only get targets that hit 3inches or below or 6 inches and below I out to be able to.

Dont give me any guff about missing targets la la la nanana! The reason the machine comes with the discrimination ablility it does is so that we can set it up to find what we want and that saves time digging. So why not have also a depth discrimination for the same reason. In SOME areas I just want to look for deep targets...just like sometimes I only want to look for silver. Its just an added discrim feature cant be that hard as we already have a depth gauge and it could be based off that.

I'd like to see the depth readout actually indicate the depth of the target. Mine always shows coins at 4" and deeper even when they are sitting on top of the ground.

I could definetly see room for improvement on that, as well. I wish the target ID #'s updated faster. The screen glare has been commented on in every post made about E-Trac improvements, we all agree on that one.

Waterproof
Great Wireless headphones (waterproof)
A digital depth readout
A Scratch-proof face
Real buttons instead of blister buttons

These are just a wish list, I love E-Trac the way it is.

Waterproof
Less than half the weight
Anti glare screen
Have the speed of the new high end 18 khz single frequency machines but retain the advantages of FBS
Adjustable breakpoints on 2 and 4 tones
Make the USB useful by being able to update the operating system

I would like it to learn the ground comp and to learn targets better
Here is one know one said slow down or increase swing speed

Hi,
Only 2 things...
a screen as readable in all light conditions as the Xterras are
lighter

thanks

I think it would be really cool to have a three tone mode like a combo of 2 tone ferous, where Fe numbers higher than 17 grunt, mid tone for Fe lower than 17 and high tone for Fe lower than 17 with a co number greater than 35,40,44 ect. (adjustable) and a true glass screen that won't scratch and glare as easy.

it would be nice to have an option to set up the discrimination as a single tone, instead of a null, while maintaining an audible threshold...and desired targets would still run in multi-tone. what i mean is....what you would normally disc out would be audible, but only have one tone, while what you normally leave open would be in multi-tone. this way you could run in conductive sounds and still have the benefits that 2 tone ferrous produces, with the faster recovery and less blanking, and still be able to tell the difference between a dime and a penny by hearing it.

might as well make it waterproof too!! did anybody mention that yet?

Have the capability to have ferrous targets sound off at low volume. In other words, be able to hunt with an open screen with iron targets registering at low volume, in the background, and non-ferrous targets responding at the normal volume gain setting. Would be nice to be able to set the low volume point anywhere the user chooses along the ferrous scale. As an example if a user set the low volume point at Fe 27, anything at Fe 27 or above would sound of at low volume in the background.

As long as we're wishing haha... I like the idea of "mixing" fe & co sounds... for instance; 12-46 = high tone... 35-46 = low tone... (in same mode) best of both worlds eh, why not? Etrac should've already had this option built in IMO... essentially one could scan the ground and get a more accurate "picture". The point where the signal changes from conductive tones to ferrous tones should come with preset values AND user adjustable capabilities for COMPLETE control over how the machine responds to certain signals.

BETTER target resolution... everything is fe 12 for the most part. For a detector that has "supreme" discrimination abilities, I sure do dig A LOT of junk that registers as a good target (keeper). Why not use the enhanced resolution of 1750 possibilities??? Perhaps one day we will see the advancements in technology actually being utilized and not squandered as gimmicks... perhaps I'm just naive and have no idea what I'm talking about?

We know the Etrac is capable of cycling from 1.5 Khz to 100 Khz with eleven possible combinations of 28 frequencies... great feature and revolutionary when it comes to detectors. This enables deeep detection on items in the ground and more stable id's at depth too than any detector I know. But what about this?... give the user (buyer, me, you) the OPTION to setup in "advanced" menu, how many frequencies (out of 28 ) are being transmitted, which frequencies, combinations, (with slight shift to each if desirable) or single frequency at users discretion for different applications...

Higher resolution (HD) color screen, TWO extremely fast processors for the handling of this multi tasking machine... more onboard memory... gps coordinate mapping for later use with gooble maps or earth. To elaborate... say you have a large area to cover like a ghosttown that is now a field... ability to assign gps coordinates to found targets and store them in a folder on the "hardrive" for later retrieval and mapping... touchscreen? Larger screen...

Target sizing would be handy... digging 14" deep crushed popcans that read like a 6" deep silver quarter is quite frankly a waste of time and energy that could've been spent digging something worthwhile...

I did say as long as we're wishing right... wonder if ML needs someone for R&D? I'm game LOL

HH everyone and enjoy your Etrac until we do see our "dream" detector.

Isn't that what the SE Pro does? It does not have the 12 line, so that would make it easier to not dig all the junk?

All the mentioned above plus a built in refrigerator with 5 beers.

anti glare screen likr Xterra's, faster response time, O/S updates VIA USB, at least rain proof KEEP the carbon fiber lower shaft....

How's about wireless headphones combined with projector glasses/goggles, projecting a see thru display of the screen, on the combo headphone/goggles. Yeah, that's it!!! And if you're using Bluetooth for the wireless you could tie in your cell phone, Ipod, etc... that should jack up the price a little. $4500.00 ought to get it.
