First day with the E-Trac.

After spending about 4 hours at a new spot today. I was very impressed at how easy the E-TRAC is to understand. Turned the unit on, turned the threshold down to just audible, increased the sensitivity a little, and set it for Deep. I was amazed at how quiet it was on mineralized ground. I was able to find 1 (1916 Barber Dime), 2 (1917,1926,Mercury Dimes), 1 (1946 quarter), 1 (1902 Indian Head Penny)(17 Wheaties's) and one 1846 Large cent. all were about 8 ' deep except the Large cent that was about 10' under a root. At first I thought that maybe I was buying another Explorer in a different package, but it didn't take long to prove otherwise. The new pin pointing is fantastic and shows you EXACTLY where the coin is. The display is better but still has some glare. The machine is lighter and well balanced. It really locked in on the coins. This is really a fun machine, and I really enjoyed my first day out.

Turned it on in the Minelab preset, and increased the sensitivity to 26, but also used auto sensitivity sometimes. And set it to Deep. That's all. Very Easy. Didn't need to adjust the gain like on the Explorer. Note: There are 2 ways to pinpoint. The one I used was when you are directly over the target the pitch is higher and you can also watch the (Display "BARS" left and right). When the meet you are top dead center. For me this was the best one to use.

Another happy E-Track owner, so many can't be wrong. You know the minute you start detecting with it that you are going to like it.

This was an old farm with old "Stone house",still there. Other parts of the property have old stone foundations and cellar holes, that are over grown right now, but I will be hunting those in the fall when the leaves are gone. It even has one of those storage cellar's built into a small hill to keep thing cold. Over the years it was sold a few times, and used for different things. Part of the property was used as a Summer camp for a long time. It is now used as a camp, and one of the local schools has a soccer field on the property they use.
