These are my FIRST EVER finds with a metal detector.
Nothing fancy or valuable here....except these are my FIRST EVER FINDS!! :clapping:
Hunted in my nephew's 75-80 year old barn.

Heading for some tot lots and the fairgrounds tomorrow!!

looks like you are having fun. Just keep at it. Go slow in the tot lots. Use verry low cisc. That is where you will find some of the good stuff. You might even fimd gold. Dig all solid signals... KEN

Thanks Ken. I have several tot lots near me in town and I work near the fairgrounds.....so I plan on a lot of short, quick trips.

Welcome to the best hobby on earth !
I remember finding my first coin ... a 1985 Zinc Penny - I was bouncing off the walls - my family thought I was nut's !

Good luck at the Fairgrounds !

Congratulations on your first finds and welcome to one of the most addictive and fun hobbies there is. :clapping:

If there was an old barn there then surely there was an older house nearby. If you are able get out in the front yard (or what would have been) go slow and you might just be rewarded with some older coins.

Great job!!! Keep at it and like Ken said....dig all your solid signals. You never know!!!!!!!

Well, have you got back out yet? :hot: Than what you waiting for. Ya cant find nothing reading this crazy forum.... KEN

I did get out to the fair grounds and couple of tot lots today. Picked up $0.19, all clad; 1 dime, 1 nickel, 4 pennies. Only worked part of one parking lot row. The parking lot is nearly 100 acres big (just my guess) so I have lots more to cover.

At one tot lot I found a small stone in a broken mounting. The stone and mounting look like costume jewelry but I will get it appraised when I have enough to justify the appraisal fees. As you can see, I don't hold high hopes for the stone to be worth anything.

But it's the thrill of the hunt, and that momentary adrenaline rush with every beep!! :bounty:

It's a great hobby / sport / pastime. Many Jewelers will give a free appraisal. Don't pay for one, instead I'd suggest you buy an acid test kit for noble metals. I use a trusted jeweler friend for the final word on stones.

Thanks! I will do that.
