First gold ring of the year!

The ring looks old and the heavy, the stone? looks like lead and is so worn can't make out anything...to me it looks like a skull with flames on top, no way something that old would have something like that on it. Looked at it with magnifier and scanned it then blew it up but still can't get enough detail to make it out.

Nice, interesting find Joe! Thanks for sharing.

There were no markings inside, either there never was any or they wore off with age. Haven't seen a gold ring with another metal where a stone normally would go, appears to be pretty old.

Congrats on your first gold ring. I am still looking for mine.

does seem strange. Will you try to get the stone out?

Could be an anchor? The reading was like 6-16 I think, main reason I dug was it sounded like a nickle and showed up on the screen in the narrow channel where nickles usually fall but closer to the iron range...seemed strange and I was pretty sure it was a deep nickle but was pleasantly surprised....I usually dont go by numbers on deep ones sound is more reliable.

Very nice finds indeed. I have seen military rings with a metal center pieces not sure what type of metal, maybe pewter or lustrium maybe even silver. I dont believe your's is silver, still an awesome find.

Thank you for sharing,

It looks like a partially seated lady or cherub to me. Google cherub images, and you can see one sitting facing to the right. The stone is probably metal and most likely Pewter. I think the ring is old...at least 1900's. Just what I see in it though. Nice find.

Pewter, that makes sense...I love finding the old rings, they are like tokens, just a little more unique than coins.

Cool find !
