Glad I could take you back to 1981 same year I graduated hs lol sure wonder how long that coin had been in the ground?
By looking at the condition of the coin it looks like it's got about 20 years of wear on it which would place it approximately dropped around 1957.
That means that coin has been laying there for 66 years waiting on you to rescue it.
Nice find.

Its easy to forget, but when first starting out in this hobby the first of anything can be ever so exciting, except perhaps trash.

A hunting buddy of mine just recently got a fellow he worked with interested in metal detecting. After a little research he snagged himself a good used Nox 900. Knowing the 900 was now my main swing, the 3 of us were finally able to get together. The new fellow had yet to find anything good that hadn't been located first by my buddy or I. We finally let him fend for himself and after about a half hour I saw him walking over with his hand out and a broad smile on his face. I'm thinking silver for his first coin, he was so excited. It was a clad Rosie dime, but Greg was so excited to have found it by himself that I would't be surprised to learn it is now mounted in a display case. That 1st find has been the un-doing of many of us over the years. HH jim tn
