first silver with new etrac

Agseeker

New member
I've had my new etrac since July 21st and found my first silver coins today. Found a 1956D Washington quarter (7" deep) and a 1942 Merc (6" deep). Also found a 1942 wheat (6" deep) about 2 inches from the Merc and a 1944D wheat (1/2" deep). These coins were found in a lot where a building had been torn down a couple of weeks ago. A neighbor told me that the building had been a funeral home about 50 years ago. I'm still amazed at how deep the etrac can go, particularly in dry, packed soil. Even at 7 inches there is no moisture in the soil here. I'd post pictures of the silver coins but I don't have a digital camera; spent all my spare cash on the etrac.

Congratulation on finding silver with your E-Trac. It is one fine machine. -- Randy

Congrats on the silver! If you found a quarter, you need to hit that area more. I went over a year with my E-Trac before I found a silver quarter. Lots of dimes, but no quarters. They are larger, and therefore easy prey for older detectors. So if you are finding them, hit that site again and again.

Jason,

You're right about needing to go back over the lot. I'm hoping we get some cooler weather and rain before they sell the property and build on it. I'm only good for a couple of hours of detecting in 100+ degree weather and no shade. I know what you mean about finding a lot more dimes than quarters. I have a habit of keeping track of my finds and have a ratio of about 10 dimes to every quarter.

Congrats on the silver and the wheaties yea the Etrac is the best detector 4 depth finding deep coins Il never give mine up  HH

Congrat's on your first Silver - hope it's the first of many !

Congratulations on your first silver E-Trac coins. What a thrill it is...and you'll NEVER forget where you found your first silver.

NebTrac

Neb Trac, you're right about your first silver find. Mine was about 1975 in the backyard of the house I owned at that time. Had just bought a Compass Dectector and got a really loud signal just a couple of feet off the back porch. Dug up the signal and it was two silver coins - a 1908D Barber Half and a no date SLQ in the same hole. I thought this metal detecting hobby was going to be a piece of cake. To this date that is still one of the best silver finds I've ever made.

wooohoo welcome to the silver club!!! may you find MANY more.....

Its working for ya,

Been hunting off and on since '79 and have yet to find a silver quarter. Did find one lying in a Wal-mart parking lot though. But, that doesn't really count.
Congratulation's and HH-
Crispy Critter

Keep looking Crispy Critter; those silver quarters are out there. That was the first one I've found in quite a few years.
